Each year at the Craft Brewers Conference (CBC), Victory proudly showcases a variety of beers brewed exclusively for the German Hop Growers’ Association to demonstrate the diversity of German hop varieties. In 2014, the focus is on four new hop varieties released in 2012, Mandarina Bavaria, Hallertau Blanc, Huell Melon and Polaris, in addition to a classic Hallertauer Pils with a “terroir-twist.” Composition Malt: Two-row German malts Hops: Mandarina ABV: 5.9% Flavor Deep, dark fruit aromas stand up to the rich and complex flavors developed from the dark malts and a heavy dose of Mandarina dry-hops. Great flavor, especially on the finish. Availability Special one-time release, March 2014

On tap at SLL. Pours a clear, dark copper color with a head of fluffy foam that leaves light sheets of lace. Nutty sweet, toasty aromas of toffee, light brown sugar, and noble hops. Toasty malt flavor balanced by a solid bitterness. Spicy, noble hops, black tea, and slight minty notes. Medium-light bodied and very drinkable.

Pours a clear ruby amber with a thin white head. Aroma has light toffee and fruits. Flavor follows suit...soft earthy hops and light toastiness...slightly sweet. Mouthfeel is light/medium...A bit watery...slightly sweet finish that turns to earthy bitterness. Meh.

On tap at brewpub. Reddish brown pour, tan head. Caramel, citrus, bread, prunes. Was surprised by the citrus hop aroma. Moderately bitter and sweet. Crisp, medium body. As the carbonation dies out, so does the bitterness and citrus aroma.
