Tap at Victory. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a medium bubbly/creamy white head. ARoma of light belgian yeast and citrusy hop character. The yeast and hops came together ok in this one. Not as nicely as the Hallertauer did though. DocLock (10647) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 10, 2010
Draft at VBC. Pours hazy gold with white head. Nose is pale malt, Saazy hops, some funky bready notes. Tastes of pale malt, rock sugary, with hops, some funk, bready, mild fruit and florals. obxdude10 (2324) - Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 27, 2010
Another really nice pale ale from this CBC series. The beer pours a golden color with a lacy and sticky white head. The nose was full of floral hops, along with some citrus and light toast notes. The body was smooth, semi-spicy and delicious. Floral and resiny hops dominate the flavors, but I also got some light caramel and bready notes. The finish was smooth, a bit dry and quite floral. cpetrone84 (1810) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 20, 2010
Had on tap at the brewery
A-pours a darker golden orange with a white head that leaves little lace
S-the nose is a little bit buttery and it seems like diacetyl has taken hold. Grainy wheat behind with a grassy hop presence in the back.
T-definitely notes of diacetyl, very buttery. notes of toasted grain and a slight wheat characteristic, grassy hops in the finish.
M-syrupy and cream with a fuller body and a little too chewy lacking the carbonation to balance that thick feel.
D-would have been a very solid offering but the diacetyl took hold and took away from this. MrChopin (4304) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 17, 2010
Fiery bronze with a ring of cream for a head. Diacetyl, light grass, and faint but husky wheat rule the nose. Flavor has more grain and a tight balance with the resoundingly bitter hop. A nicely carbonated body gives the malt-heavy profile some pomp, much like the others tasted at Victory that day, but the diacetyl is unfortunately all over this one. If this were not the case, I would have slammed another.
alobar (3756) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 15, 2010
Pours a golden orange color with no head. Aroma of citrus, hops, and toffee. Flavor is mostly sweet with citrus and toffee dominant and hops to round out the flavor. Slipstream (2608) - USA - MAY 12, 2010
On draft at Victory headquarters. It is fun to get in on these early ratings, but it appears that I was not as excited by the CBC offerings as some were, and I’m not sure why. It could be because my sampler sat for a half hour in front of the wrong customer before it was passed to me. Another so-called Belgian PA that was pretty good. I neglected to say much more about it, probably because I was looking forward to my next brew, or perhaps the schnitzel that I ordered. adrian910ss (2572) - Doylestown, PA, USA - MAY 10, 2010
On draft at the brewpub during the night of the deer incident. Pours a clear coppery liquid gold with a medium sized white head. Aroma of light buttery notes, herbal tea, light lemon, grassy notes and floral hops. Taste is much the same as the aroma. egajdzis (6501) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 25, 2010
Lightly hazy golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of butter, light citrus, herbal hops, nuts, and toffee. Taste of toffee malts, nuts, woody hops, some butter, and sweeter finish. JAXSON (604) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2010
Draft at Victory. Pours a medium gold with a white head. Next to the other CBC belgian-style offerings this expressed a more tangy, almost limey hop presence without the bitterness or malt heft of an IPA. Very dry in fact, almost minerally. Light and spritzy. Quite good play as usual with the fresh, tight hops. Very pure CBC offering from Victory as always.
