Draft from JC’s. Pours transparent deep orange with lovely copper low-lights and a soapy beige head. Nose pleasantly of caramel and crystal malt and balanced hops, orange peel with lighter floral and spicy notes. There’s a nice English character to the nose but it’s also clear this is half-American. Taste is very dry with medium bitterness, light body, caramel and a little earthy toffee, some crystal coming through but it’s minimal, the hops are soapy, mild citrus and a little noble spice. Hints of wood and grass, but they’re only hints. Very nice cleansing hops but the character becomes a little bland with volume. Still, a great session ale and quasi-English -- easy to down five or six. Leafs93 (2305) - Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 16, 2013
