Bottle at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration Tune-Up, London. Pours thick black with a creamy, beige head. Rich barrel aroma, some dark chocolate. Big sweet flavor with medium roast, dark cocoa, chocolate syrup, peat, tar and charcoal. Full bodied with average carbonation. Warm finish with lots of sugar chocolate syrup, definitely some alcohol and bourbon, dry and burnt wood. It’s a heavy beer without being outrageous. Nice and sweet, with lasting dark chocolate character. Excellent beer. Theydon_Bois (19200) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - JUN 10, 2013
Bottle split at the Martin T tasting, CBC, 06/06/13 - big thanks to Jack for liberating this one across the pond.
Extremely dark mahogony brown with a light tan head.
Nose is light roast, wood, bourbon notes, dark chocolate, treacle toffee.
The flavours in this one were a little thin for a BA impy, chocolate, dark fruits, booze, woody notes, raisens.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, some warming alcohol in the finale.
Ok stuff, the booze is a little on the harsh side and could have been better integrated. Drinkable but not a great - would find a bomber of this on my own a bit of a chore I think!?! rlgk (18847) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 16, 2016
