4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey during the Victory 20th anniversary event. Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of maple syrup and light smoke. Tastes of roast, smoke, light chocolate, BBQ wood. Medium body with a dry finish. Smells a bit better than it tastes. solidfunk (9444) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - MAR 10, 2016

Served in a 10 oz. chalice glass
Appearance – Served a very deep brown nearly completely black color with a very light tan/light brown head. The head faded fast giving a light bit of lacing.
Smell – The smell is mainly of smokiness and roasted chocolate malt with a subtle coffee aroma. This is combined with a light mount of vanilla, which gives a nice overall aroma
Taste – The taste is on the more bitter-smokey chocolate and a nice oatmeal backbone initially. It sweetens a bit, more toward the middle, with bits of caramel and vanilla working into the oaty base. As it advances further however, it becomes more bitter and the sweetness is lost to a deeper cocoa and espresso flavor which lingers in the mouth with a rather pleasant aftertaste.
Mouthfeel – A rather light to moderate body with an average level of carbonation. The body, actually, takes away from the brew a bit, as it is quite light and could use less carbonation to create a overall creamier feel.
Overall – While it lacks some things in body and mouthfeel it is a nice more bitter porter with good aroma and taste. Worth a try.
Pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma has mild smoke...slightly medicinal...lightly roasty. Flavor is smoky...a bit if a band aid note...mild roastiness. Mouthfeel is light/medium with a smoky/medicinal finish. drunkenpolack (322) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - FEB 3, 2012
I really enjoyed this one. Victory calls it a Hybrid Porter. BA calls it’s a Smoked Beer. Whatever it is, it’s a really nice session beer. A good mix of coffee and smokey flavors. Ends with a small hop finish. Nicely carbonated and just goes down nice.

Pours deep dark brown with an off white head. Aroma is roasty, smokey, oats and coffee. Taste is seeet with the smoke providing a layer of bitterness. Light mouthfeel with decent carbonation for a porter. Very enjoyable. GMCC2181 (1614) - Newark, Delaware, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Growler via the brewpub.. Light brown in color that lets light through... poured aggresive so it had a big head. Aroma of of sweet malts, light campfire smoke, breakfast meats. Taste is nice a rauch...Well balanced sweet maltiness with a campfire smokiness... little break fast meat taste. Followed by a chewy oat flavor. Body is on the lighter side, very drinkable...(good session beer) Good amount of carbonation... Thanks to Scott for picking up the growler.
