Aroma is sweet malts. Taste is mostly nutty malts. Overall decent, but not my favorite. tillmac62 (768) - Gaffney, South Carolina, USA - SEP 23, 2015
EBD 12/17/15. Pours a clear medium amber with a beautiful garnet hue. Normal head volume, lacing and retention.
Light nose of caramel with hints of grainy biscuit.
Light medium body with a smooth texture. Superb carbonation with a fair amount of effervescence in the middle and a nice prickly burst in the finish.
The flavor profile is very good, but not typical for a marzen. Like the color, it has a heavier dark malt character that speaks more to toasted chocolate malt rather than caramel. It begins with toasted, nutty and grainy malt with almost no sweetness. The middle brings an earthy hop flavor with a very light bitterness and only a subtle sweetness, which lacks caramel character. The finish is semi-dry and has a slow fade of herbal and earthy hop flavor. As it warms, sweetness does become more noticeable. HoppyScallywag (339) - Butler, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 21, 2015
A darker, heavier lager than I expected, but very good. Initial taste is chocolatey and smooth. Has a coffee like taste for a finish. Slight alcohol warm on the tail. Very taste if in the mood for a dark, slow drinking brew.

Pours dark amber/brown with a thin off-white head.
Aroma: Bready, earthy.
Taste: Earthy graininess to it, followed by a nice, round maltiness. Lingering hop bitterness and dry finish.
Medium modied with unobtrusive carbonation.
Overall a nice malt-dominated Oktoberfest. One I tend to get every year. BroadestTom (457) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 20, 2015
Aroma caramel, bread, cereal, dough,
Appearance amber, clear, tan foam,
Taste medium sweetness,
Palate light body,
Overall almost a coffee taste to this beer. It is definitely different from the rest of the oktoberfest beers so just for that reason I would suggest this beer to a friend

Deep, rich amber color.white head. Aroma is very malt bitter aroma like rye. Flavor is pretty balanced. A good barley beer. The sweetness is minimal, which is nice. The finish occasionally has that medicinal taste. Otherwise it’s ok. tkdmsn (3) - - SEP 17, 2015 does not count
Beer starts off with a slight bitterness but finishes pretty smooth. It seems to leave a slight yeasty after taste. Will drink again. sawbuck (779) - Round Lake, Illinois, USA - SEP 15, 2015
Aroma of sweet caramel, some bread. Nice deep orange color with a tan head...fades quickly. Sweet malt up front. Toasted caramel/toffee flavor. Bitterness is uneven, till the end and comes hard. Bready flavor throughout, a little off putting. Average. beer_rookie (710) - Arkansas, USA - SEP 15, 2015
Pours a copper color. Not a great head, better lacing. A little hazy. Eh, it’s okay on that part.Atom (2600) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 12, 2015
Aroma is very malty. Very toasty, very roasty. Caramel and maybe some roasted nuts.
Taste is pretty darn good. Sure, you’ve got your roasted malt, caramel and toffee, yeah yeah. It fits the style well, but hey, I’m also tasting some surprising tobacco flavor. It’s rich and smokey, and it’s very tasty.
Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied. It’s somewhat bitter finish. There’s also some of that tobacco in the finish.
Overall, I like this a lot. Particularly because of the tobacco flavor. Yeah, that’s tobacco. Like Levi Garrett. But other than that, it would still be pretty solid without it. But yes, you should certainly try it. I would absolutely have it again.
12oz bottle pours a clear bright Amber with a large khaki head. Aroma of spicy rye like caramel and toffee malt. Nice balance of fruity hops and caramel malt with some spicy yeast in the finish. Well balanced, flavorful, and drinkable.
