This is a truely great brew. Light hazy orange color with a tall white head. Lots of fruity spice with some floral hops in the aroma, a well balanced taste and a sweet citrusy finish. Loddeer (171) - USA - SEP 25, 2004
Extremely powerful, and has some decent qualities. In the end though, I must admit, this is my least favorite Victory beer. My complaints involve the taste. When you take your first sip, it’s an orgy of spices on your tongue and drinking this beer (at least to me) becomes tedious after a couple more sips. More abbey-ish attributes and less of an exotic allure can make this beer more representive of Victory’s supremacy of microbrews. Jine (903) - Nutley, New Jersey, USA - SEP 25, 2004
On tap. Only had a couple sips, but I think this is not a bad example of a Tripel. Very nicely done. I have to get me some of this emp177 (2) - state college, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 23, 2004 does not count
Overall appearance is a little disappointing. Pours a nice head followed by an unmistakeable aroma of a belgian-inspired brew. Sweet and spicy with a generous palate that warms you as it goes down. The high alcohol content puts you in that place you want to be. Any beer lover needs to experience the satisfaction of golden monkey. Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - SEP 22, 2004
Bottle: Aroma is all malt and alcohol. Real fruity smell with a slight alcohol nose. Pours a hazy gold with a decent white head that lasts a minute or so. Lots of sediment. Very, very sweet. Slight alcohol taste with a slight burn, but mostly nothing but sweetness. The sweetness intensifies in the finish and then you get a slight alcohol taste. A little cloying. Sweet aftertaste lingers for a while. A little too sweet for me. As it warms, I'm not sure if the sweetness decreases in intensity or my taste buds have gotten used to it. Not too bad, but not particularly great. Better tripels out there.

Cloudy gold color, very true belgian aroma’s. Sweet flavor and heavy mouthfeel give you an idea of the alcohol content but, you don’t get that high abv taste. Beer has a slightly tart finish which makes it easy to drink. hurleymanvw (101) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - SEP 20, 2004
Orange beer with a hint of grapes on the nose...Wheat, herb, and fruit flavors help reduce the strong alcohol content. Very smooth beer with a kick....Can’t drink more than 2 but a good start. Hawksfan17 (890) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - SEP 19, 2004
Smells of fruit, wheat, alcohol, hops. Tastes the same, has a little bit of a tingle or bite to it. Pours orange and hides the high ABV nicely. Wouldn’t drink all the time but a nice treat. tsarman (794) - Northern, New Jersey, USA - SEP 16, 2004
Wow. Wow Wowey. This monkey was Goldenly deliciously. As my friend BizNiz said, "when angels orgasm, golden monkey comes oozing out. " Is it that good? Yes it is and even better. Thats all I have to say about that. Medium head, Golden Monkey color. Alcohol sweetens the beer but it is not too predominant. JonMoore (2067) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 13, 2004
Poured with no head. Hazy orange coloured. Fruits and spices in the aroma. Not as "spiced" as I had expected in the taste, which is dominated by fruit and some alcohol. Slightly carbonated, quite smooth with a medium mouthfeel.
