Tap, great orangy color, and excellent fruity taste that compliments the very high ABV. Good to the last drop, even a little warm. pineypower (3352) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - SEP 7, 2004
Pours out a cloudy golden color with a small sized head. It has a nice fruity aroma with notes of yeast. It has a nice smooth body for having such a high ABV. It has a good rather complex flavor that is much more balanced than many other tripels I’ve had with notes of fruit and yeast with a tad of hop. UPDATED: JUN 5, 2010 What a surprise this beer was. The taste was immpeccable and the experience gravatating. Golden monkey made me throughlly enjoy every sip and also added a realm of satisfaction to my whole evening. Truly a beer to pursue.
Wow, revisted almost six years later, and this brew still brings forth a glorious revelation of enjoyment. The pour is thin and hay like but the taste is balance between a soft pepper to a medium citrus clove spice. Quite enjoyabe. AcctError14093 (195) - New Mexico, USA - SEP 6, 2004

Pours a murky golden color with light carbonation and a white head. Plenty of chunks floating around. Lace is slippery and head retention low. Aroma of fruity esters, bread and light aroma hop. Taste has a fruity start, tart middle and a light hop finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and effervescent with a lingering hop presence.
A nice warming quality, relatively smooth, however there seems to be nothing exceptional about this tripel. ukoolaid (580) - Amherst, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 1, 2004
On tap. Hazy golden yellow color. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is malty with a dry finish. Pretty good, but not my favorite tripple. I would like to see a little more complexity of flavors replace the sweetness.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2008 [12 oz. bottle] Cloudy golden/amber color with a thick white head. Very spicy aroma, seems to be a mix of various spices, yeast and malts with a slight hop undertone. The flavor is mostly the spices and yeast from the aroma with a very smooth taste and texture and a sweet and malty hint at the end. The aftertaste is very sweet and spicy with a slight peppery bite. Hides the alcohol well. Very good. YourDarkLord (1800) - Urbana, Illinois, USA - AUG 30, 2004
Clear amber with an off white head. Very subtle Belgian aroma: hops, herbal, spice, yeast, malt. Not very interesting or complex. Medium body and a pleasant but unremarkable texture and mouthfeel. The flavor was of an average Belgian trippel. Not bad but not exceptional. Quetzalcoatl (153) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - AUG 23, 2004
12oz Bottle. Hazy yellow-golden color, with a thin white head. Aroma is yeasty and enticing. The flavor is very good; Rich sticky sweetness (maybe a bit too much) upfront, that turns to a spicy smooth finish. Warming, but little taste of alcohol despite its content. Hardly any hop presence, the spices and yeast dominate this fine brew. mctous (131) - Herndon, Virginia, USA - AUG 14, 2004
UPDATED: MAR 6, 2007 Clove, wheat malt, and spice aroma, frothy head and light hops. Spice, malt, and esters form the palate, followed by alcohol warmth. Golden Monkey tastes like a imperial wit. In fact I’ll use Whirlwind Wit as a lighter chaser! Norton (333) - Southside, Richmond, Virginia, USA - AUG 12, 2004
Draft. Rich deep golden hue. Smallish head but clings around glass for entire duration. Punchy, piny nose jumps out of glass. Outstanding balance of carbonation and mouthfeel. Sweetish twangy fruit flavor stings the tongue ever so lovingly. Wow. This is good stuff. High alcohol content unnoticeable on palate. I can easily see me drinking this until I pass out, but that would cost me a fortune! Great brew.
