COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. Well be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, weve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, weve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

Pale orange-amber body. Large frothy white head. Soapy lacing. Balance of grapefruit, pine and floral hops. Light presence of pale malts. Medium to light bodied, clean bitterness, moderate carbonation, fairly refreshing finish. A simple, flavorful pale ale.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! Pours gold with a white head. BIG citrusy nose. Taste is sweet, bitter, and dry. Theres a nice tropical fruit flavor on the back of the tongue that sticks around for a bit. I would say this rivals Zombie Dust for big, flavorful APAs.

I hoppy pale ale for sure. Some dark, earthy flavors. Its a bit dank. Could stand to be a bit more crisp. Not a pussy beer though. I love Victory for a making a pale with some real flavor.

keeping in mind im not a hophead, or else this would have scored higher. aside from that, this is a solid pale ale. this should be a regular from Victory. it could be the gold standard of what a quality pale ale should be.

Bought on tap at Savemore Beverage in Clifton Park, NY. Small, off-white head with some lacing. Grapefruit, pine and resin notes. Very nice APA: easy to drink, great summer session beer. Doesnt give you the old El Kabong over the head and palate that a lot of the IPAs do (not that its a bad thing, but sometimes you want something you can just drink and drink and drink), but thats OK.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle is clear orange with thin white head, aroma has notes of lemon, grass, spice, touch of grain, hints of earth, touch of nice orange peel in there as well, pretty nice and spicy notes. Taste is a nice mix of crackery biscuit, grain, some nice spicy notes, a fair husky note, touch of lemon, hints of orange, finishing fairly grainy. Decent, but not great.

Tap at Three Fires. Musty, stale cat pee hops aroma initially. Once the cat pee wore off I was able to detect some caramel and orange hops aroma. Im not quite sure how to rate cat pee smell. Light amber with a small off-white head, nice lacing. Caramel malt and sweet orange hops flavor. Medium body, flat carbonation. Great tasting beer, too bad the cat pee smell had to give me a bad first impression. I had the guy sitting next to me smell it, and smell the same thing, so I know I wasnt imagining it.

Grapefruit-caramel aroma. The citrus aspect is the dominant flavor. Almost an India pale in that regard. Nice orange color. Smooth body with just enough kick. Looks like they are right to talk up the brewing water.
