The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. Well be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, weve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, weve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

12oz bottle. Kinda grassy aroma some older hops and malt. Golden color with a thin white head. Grassy piney flavors that are a bit cloying against the pale malts. Bitter cloying finish. ok

Very clean and refreshing. A great summer beer with gentle pine and citrus hints. An overall bright finish makes for a very pleasing drink.

Tap. Pours hazy copper with thick, frothy off-white heqd; decent retention and spare lacing. Aroma is caramel and cookie malt, grassy and floral hops, citrus fruit, and faint pine. Flavor is malt forward with some supporting hops (light bitterness) and fruit esters; dry finish. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth.

On tap at Geraghtys for Victory meet the brewer. When fresh, this pale ale is tough to top. Pours a hazy orange, with medium head that dissipates quickly. Aromas and taste are filled with marshmallow, vanilla, light pine, and other citrus. Perfect amount of malt in the back end. My favorite beer from Victory, pure session brew.

Crystal clear dark golden ale wearing a gentle white cover. Cerealic, minimally honeyed crystal malts are dominated by the resinous, flowery hops. In mouth, it has a toastier feel than Id expected, being fairly malty albeit not too sweet and remaining easy to drink. A balanced bitterness climbs up with the sips, throwing coniferous, leafy and flowery notes that, while not particularly citrusy, still bring on a fairly acidic profile, adding to the refreshment significantly. Relatively simple to be honest and not something particularly distinctive, but otherwise, its stricking feature is certainly its remarkable cleanliness, rolling on the palate like a lager would while its small bubbles add a crispy touch that I appreciate.

The pour is a clear, orangey-amber color with a moderately full, white, pillowy, frothy head which settled to a very thin froth and leaves tight, lace rings. The nose is toasted grain and caramel, very floral, faint citrus, and slight resins. The flavor is slightly better with more toasted caramel, toasted grains still, slightly resinous, still floral, and some citrus. The palate is lively, light to moderate, and a bit watery. The finish is moderately bitter, resinous, and full of lasting grain notes. Fairly generic APA, drinkable and just enough sweetness to balance to the prominent bitterness.

Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a pint glass. This beer has a very pleasant nose with a crisp citrusy aroma. It pours a dark golden color. It tastes slightly malty with a clean aftertaste that matcher the aroma. Overall its not a bad beer, but not likely a beer I will go out of my way to have again.
