COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The pure water we receive from the East Branch of the Brandywine Creek that begins its journey to us just under 14 miles from where we brew with it. We’ll be celebrating this water (insert your lite beer joke here) with our anniversary beer, Headwaters Pale Ale, due to be released February 15, 2011. Now, considering that beer is the product of four simple ingredients and the three other than water rely on water for their existence, we’ve had a fair amount of latitude in paying homage to water in our beer. So, we’ve played all of our cards deftly, bringing the hops, malt and yeast in harmony, with our great local water as the conductor in Headwaters Pale Ale.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2011 Sampled at the brewvival 2011. 50th anniversary beer? I think that is what they said in the booth. Clear golden pour with fresh clean ’C’ hop profile. Solid Pale Ale. Rerated from a bottle. sweet clean hops. good stuff.

Coppery orange, vigorous carbonation, loose beige head. Big hop aroma up front - Pine needles and grapefruit - the usual suspects. Flavor is not quite as hoppy as the aroma, but still pretty good. Some malt flavors in the background. Long aftertaste. Nothing earth shattering, but still a welcome addition to my Pale Ale rotation...

Tap. Rating #111. Medium gold pour with a nice lacing white head. Big piney hop aroma, a little soapy. Clean hoppy bite, very little aftertaste and a damn good drinker. (1538)

Bottle. Pours out a brownish orange color with a white head on it. Smell is hoppy and grassy with a little bit of citrus notes to it. Taste is sweet, refreshing, and kind of hoppy. An interesting beer, and certainly different from the old standby of SNPA. Good session beer, easy to drink, and for what it is, a good beer. I wish the grocery stores carried this one to through into my rotation.

Pretty representative of its style. I like that the happiness isn’t too tongue splitting, like many American pales are. Nice floral aroma, piss color, thin head that is retained throughout, watery mouth feel (again, typical of its style). Not bad!
