COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The radiant energy of the sun gives life to all that we enjoy. Flowing field of barley for malting, surging vines of ripening hops and even pure, clean water owe their vitality to the sun. Just as we do. So in crafting this unique, hazy orange-hued ale, we poured in nature’s great gifts of German malts and European hops to feed the dynamic yeast that we imported from Belgium. Here in the quiet tanks of Victory our yeast brought vitality to this Belgian style farmhouse ale. That energy has created impressions that range from lemon peel to black pepper, though such spices are not added. Great with a wide array of foods, count on the bright soul of Helios Ale to bring life to all of your meals!

750ml corked & caged bottle: Brilliant golden pour with a rim clinging white head. This is pretty hoppy for the style, offering lots of citrus and perfume up front in the body and nose. The body dries nicely as esthery notes bombard the tongue. Pears, apricot and sweet oranges mix well with the moderate dose of honeyed malt. Finishes dry with a peppery alcohol burn. Nicely done.

Bottle, 750 ml. Hazy particulate yellow, with a diminishing white head. Good lacing. Sour aroma, but complex on the palate with a salty, sweet, and sour all in one drink. Dry finish. My first saison, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I look forward to drinking more of thi style.

750 ml bottle shared with Friends at Boxers Cafe, Huntingdon: Aroma was full and rustic featuring spices and perhaps even some wild things. poured slightly hazy gold with ample carbonation and 2 fingers of head that disipated, partially becaue I think the glass needed to be cleaned better. Flavor was full on spices, cumin and ginger with a bit of smokiness and a citrus snap. Addictingly dry. bubbly mouthfeel. refreshing but the spices were maybe a little overdone, and I couldn’t get into the smokiness in a saison.

Bomber->tulip: Pours a large, white, rocky head atop of a murky, orange body. No malt flavor detected, but floral and citrus hops and a horse blanket yeast aroma. The body is light, the texture is oily and the flavor’s duration is average with sweetness, acid, and bitterness being light. Real clean finish and has a fruity taste, but not a beer I could drink regularly, though this is good for the once in awhile jaunt.

Not a bad saison, but perhaps a bit one dimensional. Lots of lemon peel and some yeastyness. Pretty pleasant drinking.

LinusStick (3458) - Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 15, 2008
A decent saison but a little too sweet for me. Aroma was average. Some light malt and light fruit with a bit of yeast. Pour was a nice cloudy murky orange with a one finger off white head. Taste was very sweet. Honey, apple, pear and a strong yeast bite with a sweet light malt and stickiness to the aftertatse. A little tartness comes out as it warms but not enough to balance the sweetness. Nice strong biting carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a nice hazy orange with a bit of a hoppy aroma, but also a nice yeast smell. Taste is a nice hops, which turns fruity. Very nice.

750 ml. bottle, bottled 0n 3307, small head with nice retention of about 1", very good fruity nose with a hoppy bite, not as complex as some others but a nice beer

Yeasty with light spice on the aroma. Heavily carbonated sweet body that wasn’t very earthy.

Bottle from Bev4Less. Medium golden in color with quite a bit of carbonation. Dry earthy floral aroma. Spicy and bitter up front. A hint of cider. A bit of graininess. Finish is bitter with some white pepper qualities. A little sweetness in the finish as well.
