Purchased for $7 at Victory’s brewpub and brewery (along with the other V-series offering), this is a great American take on a classic Belgian style ale. The ’tart fruit’ is the name of this one as it bites the palate and leaves with the dry finish. Not bad. SpringsLicker (3638) - Tennessee, USA - DEC 1, 2007
Thanks to Suttree for bringing this one to the Brewer’s Jam Hotel Tasting.
Slightly hazy orange body with a persistent off-white head.
Floral, fruity aroma. Some spice with a hint of licorice.
Lightly sweet flavor with some spices and a bit of dryness that attempts to creep in there, but doesn’t fully succeed.
Surprisingly decent Saison.

The packaging of the beer in a 750 ml., corked, and caged bomber added an air of authenticity. The first pour was clear and bubbly, and the smell was floral and sweet. The smell lacked the funky brettanomyces character that I usually enjoy in these beers. The taste was also smoother and little more industrial than authentic farmhouse. The floral, sweet, and earthy flavors balanced masterfully, but the tartness was mild at best. Easy to drink and pleasing, but I kept missing that spicy edginess. There was more hop bitterness than normal, and the was tending dry. elmatador00 (519) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - NOV 2, 2007
Pours a murky yellow with a foamy white head. Has hints of sour fruits, foral, and beliguim yeast. Finishes tart and bubbly on the palate. mistersinalin (381) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - OCT 18, 2007
This is another one of those beers that is really good, great aroma, consistent with the style, but isn’t a knockout. At the prices, there are better Saisons.

Very pale yellow color; strong fruity aroma; gets slightly more bitter as it goes; too bubbly. theviolet (186) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 17, 2007
Not too much yeast. Lots of spice and citrus. Big white head, foamy and goes away a little quickly. Cloudy bright gold. Slightly metallic taste, some spice, good bitterness in the finish. Don’t like it too much. Great bubbly mouthfeel. Suttree (6385) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 14, 2007
Slightly cloudy yellow, with a fairly sizey head. Spicy aroma, with a whiff of vanilla and sage, maybe some other herbal notes, too. Pretty tasty, with a vaguely sweet edge at first, then some spicyness. Perhaps some apple flavor as it warms. Also a bit more full bodied than I expected. Very solid effort from Victory, whose Belgian styles have been hit or miss of late. It’s a more fruity, buttery brew than one customarily associates with saisons, but there’s enough grass and earthy stuff happening, with mild spicing, to make it all work. Big body, generous head, and in general a solid beer. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - OCT 3, 2007
750 ml bottle. good saison. refreshing, somewhat cloudy, some funk, earthy. mild spice. very drinkable. light hop presence. would love some more
