COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop headed West a broken man. For it was a certain Miss LuLubelle Lager that had left him, thirsting for more. Drawn by wild tales of the riches of the gold mines, Hop pressed on westward. His last nickel spent on a prospecting pan, Hop’s hunger and thirst got the best of him. Two fistfuls o’ barley and three of some wild and wayward hops tossed in the pan with some clear water was to be his meal. But sleep overcame him and he woke to a bubbling, cacophonous concoction. Overjoyed with the beautiful ale that he had made, Hop realized the secret of the ’green gold’ he had discovered in those fresh hops. Celebrated far and wide, Hop Wallop lives on in this vivid ale with his words, "hoppiness is happiness." As our annual homage to the fresh hop harvest, Hop Wallop is a fragrant experience that delights the tastebuds. Pure gold of color, this ale offers its heady bounty of hops to the adventurous of taste. Bold, bracing and surprisingly refreshing for a strong ale, Hop Wallop lives up to its name and legacy.

Clear, light gold colored pour with a small, short-lived, white head. Sweet citrus and honey aroma with hints of pine. The flavor is very piny and floral. Especially lingering on the back of the tongue. There’s some notable sweetness and grapefruit that hits your tongue first and fades, then leaving a lasting bitterness. The middle of the flavor is somewhat artificial and soapy which is a little off-putting. I think it’s coming from a big dose of fusel alcohol. There’s some nice hop notes in there but it’s just way out of balance. The body is also a bit on the thin side and heavy on the carbonation.

Keg Half Pint at White Horse American Beer Festival 2009, Parsons Green, London in July 2009 - And Bottle - Pale Gold in colour. Very Hoppy; piney, very resinous, oily hops. Very citrus-fruity; bitter grapefruit and lemon. Solid Malt base; caramel and toffee. Intensely piney resinous hops over a solid malty base. Very bitter citrus hop bite. Mega-bitter, mega-hoppy, mega-citrus-fruity Double IPA. (2009-07)

backlog, Bottle, pours a very well carbonated golden orange with average to large sized head. Small bubbles. Smell and taste are dry hops, strong bitter pine, ash, grapefruit, and toast. Lacked balance for me and was hot in the close

Hop wallop pours a deep yellow almost lager type body with plenty of carbonation and a thin head that left lots of heavy lace. Aroma had a few different things in it like pine, citrus and almost some floral notes, but all were rather faint. Mouthfeel was nice with a slight thickness and carbonation bite. The flavor left a little to be desired, the pine flavor bordered on skunky with a bitter finish, it wasnt bad but kinda unusual. Even though the taste was a little off i wouldn’t mind trying it again in the future. Originally rated on 11/19/08

Pours clear blonde with a modest white head. nose is the usual suspects of West Coast hops and a little sweetness. hops come on fairly strong on the front with good bitterness and some grapefruit. malt is very sweet. finish is better and somewhat sticky.

Pours a nice clear, gold color with no lacing or head retention. Smells like pine and hops. Tastes very hop forward and finishes less bitter than I thought it would. Good beer, but nothing crazy.
