Draft at brewpub and on cask. Poured dark brownish black with tan head that laced well. Nose was black patent and choc malts, cacao. Tasted rich, smooth, with the roasty malt up front and some cacao and hops in the finish. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 24, 2013
Tap at Rustico Alexandria. Pours a clear, deep ruby to maroon. Spotty tan lace. Nose is quite rich with dark chocolate, coffee, cookie, vanilla, black cherry. Taste is quenching, lighter bodied, lightly roasty and bitter, very drinkable and sessionable. Palate is acidic, lactic, big lemon juice. Much richer nose than expected for style. Very nice. Dark with a creamy, off-white head. Aroma is light roasted malts, chocolate, earth. Medium body. Cocoa, roasted malts, chocolate, and light earthy hops. Easy going beer. If the abv were a couple points lower this would be an all night kinda beer. jb (3449) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAR 2, 2013
On tap at the Old Toad - it replaced a Firestone stout I was looking forward to. Toasted malt nose. Creamy tan head, looks almost nitro generated. Orange highlights. Toasted and roasted malt palate. Hefty coffee, through to the finish. Art (3220) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Point Brugge tasting. A deep brown pour. Little lacing. This beer tastes like straight up cigars. No doubt about it. Not bad but I can’t get over it.
