Hazy dark amber color with small head. The aroma is nice, it combines malt, caramel, maybe toffee, and a hint of oak, vanilla, light alcohol. Full bodied, rich malt flavor, some vanilla oak, strong bitterness, pungent hop resins, and strong warming alcohol.
Tap at Victory, Downington, 27/11/13.
Clear dark amber with a moderate light beige covering.
Nose is bourbon soaked oak, dark toffee fudge, vanilla essence, light booze notes but not 11% worth.
Taste comprises rich dark toffee, vanilla, bourbon notes, caramel fudge, stewed dark fruits.
Full bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, lightly warming alcohol in the finish.
Decent oak aged BW, the 11% is well integrated.

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bourbon barrels, dark fruits, booze, and caramel - seems quite boozy and barrel-heavy. Flavour brings out a decent amount of booze, some vegetal notes, some slight bourbon, and caramel. Not overly hot, but not overly complex either. Whatever they did to the base beer, they took out the complexity. I much prefer the Old Horizontal, which is way more caramel and dark fruit oriented. It’s decent, but the vegetal notes are too prominent for me. It’s alright. jtclockwork (16600) - , New Jersey, USA - MAR 22, 2013

Medium to full body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet and small alcohol burn finish of moderate to long duration.
