Pours a dark copper/chestnut brown color with deep amber edges and a two finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Very good retention with steaks of soapy lacing coating the glass on the way down.
Floral aroma with resinous pine, fresh cut grass and a spicy hop presence countered by a sweet malt backbone. Dank buds, pine needle and spruce tip countered by sweet caramel malt, toffee, hazelnut, dark fruit and lightly toasted bread. Perfume like with decent hop character in the nose. Nothing really stands out but it smells nice enough.
On the fuller end of medium body with a crisp, spicy hop bite hat provides dry, lingering bitterness which is countered by a slightly roasted sweet malt backbone. Surprisingly hop forward for what is described as an easy drinking session beer. Plenty of dank resins and earthy bitterness wih grassy pine needle and slick hop oils. Decent malt backbone with subtle roast and burnt bread followed by caramel, dark fruit and toffee sweetness. Balance shows as it warms with stronger malt flavor but the hops still dominate the palate. Subtle boozy sweetness with some alcohol heat in the finish which is surprising given that it’s only 5%. Surprisingly complex and more aggressively hopped than expected. Another solid beer from victory to commemorate PJ’s anniversary. callmemickey (4542) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 16, 2014
Copper colored body, thin off-white head, spotty lacing. Light caramel malts, crackery grains, and just a touch of earthy and floral hops. Medium bodied, lively carbonation, light sweetness, bland finish. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 11, 2014
Tap. Pours a clear copper body with a small fizzy off-white head. The nose is a bit catty with the hops to me, some lightly sweet caramel malt, some toasted notes. The flavor is light and thin, the hops taste pretty catty and come across as a bit of an odd mix. Minimal bitterness, some light toasted malt. Light bodied and easy drinking with soft fizzy carbonation. Not really anything ’wrong’ here, I just don’t care for the flavors coming from the hops in this one. reggiedunlop (3724) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 5, 2013
Pours a clear copper color with a thick off white head. Aroma has caramely malts and earthy hops. Flavor is caramely and roasty with dry leaves...almost chalky...earthy hops. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is dry and earthy bitter. Everything i dislike in an IPA. PhillyCraft (7215) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 3, 2013
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2013 Several pints from pour House and pj’s. Pours copper gold, slightly clear . notes are bland as shit, grainy hops, corn, crystal malt, and bitterness. Thin to medium bodied. If citra and chinook were used, they were schwag quality hop nuggets of the brewer didn’t get them to translate to the beer. Either way, this Is weak.
