COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Ingredients: 2 row German pale malt; Czech Saaz, German Northern Brewer hops.
Heaps o’ hops are hiding under the full, frothy head of this elegant Pils. All German malt subtleties linger beneath a long dry finish of this classy quencher. One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews

Bottle acquired from a trade w/kramer17801. Hazy pale yellow. Almost Belgian White in color (like the Golden Monkey). Frothy white head that sticks to side of the glass more like a krausen then a lace. Peppery aroma. Thicker mouth feel. Malty with a small bit of diacetyl (which seems out of place in this beer).

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2005 This is a pleasant pilsner, if that’s your thing. If you get it as part of the victory sampler case, you won’t regret it, but if you’re like me, you’ll gravitate to the hop devil and the golden monkey, with this pulling in a respectable third among a variety of great beers. I’m not quite as enthusiastic as the other reviewers given the context of the other beers, though if you’re going for a pilsner, this really is not a bad choice at all. Re-rate, 12/24/05: Aroma of apple juice, tastes grapey, bitter, a bit like a kolsh - that german malt I suppose. Looks really pale, light yellow with no head. Mediocre. The high average rating here is rather undeserved. It is not better than 92/100 of the other beers I am drinking. Quite good for a pilsener, but it really doesn’t appeal to me, and I think it’s ridiculously overrated.

Bottle: hazy blonde yellow.....nose was of bananna and a hint of clove, some orange tended to come out as it warmed, beautiful snow white creamy head that stuck around awhile. Mouthfeel was perfectly medium, going down ultra smooth. Flavors included banana, wheat, candied malts, honey, and other sweetness. Awesome

Poured light golden with minimal head ( I used a standard pint glass). Hayseed aroma with a malt character that reminded me of a rolling prairie. The hops kick you on the way in and on the way out. I will revisit this pilsener

HumuloneRed (751) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 10, 2005
Bottle. Pours a clear straw gold with a nice white head and lacing. Great malt profile with an earthy hop bitterness and spicy hop flavor. Very clean. Good. Beer.

StewardofGondor (1934) - Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 10, 2005
Clear, magnifying neon gold with an icy sheet for the head and sticky, cascading lace. Aroma is a sinus elixir, laden with hearty sourdough, grass stains, hops, lemon rind scrapings and pine fresheners. Crisp, yeasty flavor. Flakey biscuits with a honeyed / carnation / floral hop profile. Lemons never sear, they sweeten like the top crust of fresh French bread. Chafing, drying palate presence but consciously smooth and balanced. Finish is musky, husky and lemon herbed sourdough. Ranks right up there with the style’s best.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2005 bottle-This beer poured out golden and crisp with a decent head. The smell at first was a turnoff as it smelled skunked. However the taste was hoppy and it had a great malt profile. This is a really fine American pilsner.

Tejas (1006) - Dallas, Texas, USA - OCT 8, 2005
UPDATED: APR 19, 2006 Re-rate. First one was bad bad bad. Much improved now. Crystal clear with a nice white head. My standard everyday pils. Spicy, crisp, respectable hop bite but not near the IPA category. VERY drinkable and one heck of a thirst quencher.

12 oz. bottle. Clear golden hue with beautiful white head, well maintained. Refreshing malt flavor well balanced by floral hops, most likely Saaz. Dry in the finish, an excellent example of the style.

Fine, dry pils that pours golden with a frothy white head. Beautiful in the glass. Nice aroma of hops and grass. Flavor at first reminded me of Pilsner Urquell but the malty body wasn’t quite as firm. Therefore, the balance seemed a bit shy of perfection. Loved the hoppy flavor but it lacked body in the finish. Very enjoyable and would buy again but the price is a little north of my normal budget.
