Im not normally into pilsners, but I must say that Victory Prima Pils is one that I would select again. A top-notch pils, better (and fresher) than many Europeans.

Pours golden and clear with a quickly diminishing head. Floral and fruity scent. Perfect balance of malt and hops for a pilsner. Nice and crisp with a pleasant bitter taste that runs through til the finish. Slightly malty flavor also appears on the finish. Great palate--totally refreshing pilsner.

UPDATED: JUL 19, 2005 Bottle, dated "Enjoy by Mar 09 05." Reviewed in my basement as I watch a rainstorm seep water all around my beer fridge. Thanks to Dorwart for putting this in his fine trade. Yknow, Eric Asimov, wine critic for the NY Times, channels his uncle Isaacs smarts by reviewing beer once in a while, and his latest article had a thumbs up for this. But I think he missed the mark when he said that pilseners are not complex. This beer is very complex. I popped the cap to a whiff of strong beer that could be a slight skunk, but the odor dissipated. The pour is very pale, more like a macro, with a stiff, foamy "TV Beer" head. The malt taste is very light, probably light as you can get without adding corn. But malty, not sugary. Hops are there, but they are more for tang than bitterness, like a few bits of lemon peel. Finish is just fine, with a happy little hop prickle on your tongue. A well rounded pils tasted at the height of its maturity.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2005 Sampled on draught and was very impressed. Well balanced and expertly made pilsner. Malt with fruit, sourness, and a nicely bitter finish. Its not a big brew, nor does any aspect of the taste dominate over others. Vert smooth, tasty hop finish.

This is an Ok Pilsner. Straw, bitter, and grassy flavors. Finishes clean, crisp, and dry.

This I liked. The Braumeister is very similar, though far less bitter. I felt that what this had was more body and flavor, as well as bitterness. I was happy to be able to find another nice session ale from this place. A great beer.

Tap at Victory. Slightly hoppier version of the Braumeister pilsner. Id put them on par. Both really good for the style, but theyre still pilsners.

This is probably Victorys most common beer. Not as flashy as HopDevil or Golden Monkey & not as rich as Storm King it can appear unadventurous. Think again because this is one tasty beer. Pour yourself a glass and right away you will see what Bud would be like if it was a good beer. This is a true pilsner.
