On the 11th day of Christmas 2013.. Pours reddish brown with a small tan head that sticks around as a ring throughout. Aroma is oak, woody, roast, earthy and dark chocolate. Second phenomenal barrel aged beer I have had tonight. Rich ruby brown color with a thin off white ring around the glass. Aroma of smooth red wine, flavor is complex - oak, red wine, cocoa, malt, and some vanilla. The palate is fantastic - lingers for a long time with hints of cocoa, fruit and oak.

750 ml. corked and caged bottle. Pours a thin beige head, with some lacing, over a clear ruby brown (SRM 25) body....nose is vinous with light cocoa, dried fruits including plum, fig, raisin, minimal hops.....taste is initially light sweetness, then vinous tones, hints of oak, light dried fruits, becoming dry and finishing with quite obvious hop bitterness and woody terpenes......mouth feel light of medium, lightly astringent, alcohol warmth hidden, carbonation adds tingly and a moderately acid finish. This is way off the mainstream of the Baltic Porter style. The vinous tones and barrel are quite apparent, and hide the malt sweet dried fruits layers of the style. The hop bitterness is too high. This is a technically well made beer but it is a bit too twixt and tween to be highly rated on the BJCP system. Experiments sometimes fail. BJCP 7/3/11/4/6

Dark black with a thin tan head. Aroma is strong red wine with vanilla and oak. Even expecting it, it was a little surprising. Flavor is complex and somewhat difficult to unpack. Cocoa malt up front with a but of bitterness. Finish is strong oak and vanilla with a hit of fruit and wine. Tannins also noticeable. Makes an interesting substitute for red wine while providing a bit of earthy richness.

A: Very complex aroma. merlot sweetness. A nice oak note. Some roastiness in the back of the smell.
A: Pours looking a little thin and gross off brown. Head is nice and creamy.
T: Just like the smell. Sweetness from the wine. A big oak note. The real star is the finish (which is nice since most beers lack here). Amazing roasty oak note on the finish. Wine is maybe a little agressive in the front. There is an off note in there... i think it may be the oak comming through. A bit too much oak.
P; As noted above very complex but a little too oaky. A nice sweetness. A great finish. Doesn’t make up for the misses though.

On draft at Isaacs. Nice vino and cocoa aroma. Flvors of wood, chcolate with a dry dark fruit finish, I liked it a lot.
