Draft. Pretty much black, although it’s a bit dark in here, so it’s hard to tell. Tan head, that much I can see well enough. Aroma of cocoa powder, vanilla, latte macchiato. Taste is very roasty, with slightly sour coffee. Decent enough. madmitch76 (26850) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 17, 2014

Tasting at the pad of the ever gracious Bruce. Thanks to renowned author and publisher Mr Bois. Hazy amber - brown beer, little pale tan head. Smooth palate, soft malt, litle cream. Nice touch of wood, very slightly bitter. Ligt red wine fruity tang. Marmalade bitterness. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Good stuff.
Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Colin. Pours clear, rich brown with a foamy beige head. Dusty cocoa on the nose with a bit of wood, dried berries. Light to medium sweet flavor, loads of barrel presence, dry toffee, tangy wood. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Dry, burnt wood finish with slight dark and tangy berries, oak, tannins, hints of earth and chocolate. Tasty though the barrel is quite present. Bottle shared at Bruce’s pad, from the brewery thanks to DLJ for letting me liberate this one from his stash, 16/01/14.
Extremely dark mahogony brown with a good sized tan head that collapses to a swirl and edgework.
Nose is earthy cocoa, vinous, dark fruit, toffee, woody, brown sugars.
Taste comprises cocoa powder, mellow red wine tang, oaky grape skin, light roast, dark toffee strains, berry fruits.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light roasty closure.
Nice BA baltic, not OTT in anyway, subtley done, easy drinker. jtclockwork (17769) - , New Jersey, USA - APR 12, 2014

Bottle cheers to C-Dogg. It pours deep brown with a small tan head. The nose is wood, medicinal notes, toast, toffee, jammy red fruits and coconut. The taste is roasted malt, toast, cocoa, wood, vanilla, coconut, vinous, jammy fruits and nice level of bitterness. Medium body and moderate carbonation. I’m not exactly blown away, but it is decent nonetheless. Ratman197 (15758) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - NOV 15, 2013
750 ml corked and caged bottle courtesy of BeerandBlues2 (thanks Brad) poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, red wine, oak, vanilla and light cocoa. Bottle. Poured a clear dark reddish brown color with an average brown frothy head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy toast chocolate malt, tannic wood and small alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a thick dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet chocolate flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. A smooth complex brew.

750 mL bottle from Beer Run. Pours a clear dark red color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of wine, wood and a faint roasty note. The taste is chocolate, wine, wood, mild roast. Medium bodied, well balanced. The barrel aging over dominates the aroma, but the taste is sublime. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - NOV 9, 2013
