On tap at Fat Heads Pittsburgh. Pours a clear orange brown with a thick white head. Aroma of citrus, bitter earthy hops, spicy rye. Flavor of bitter hops, earthy hops, light fruit, a touch of citrus, with tons of rye in the finish. Very tasty rye IPA that is very heavy on the rye.
On tap at Bocktown Robinson. Meh. This is a typical run of the mill IPA if you ask me. Aroma was alright. Green hops and notes of grapefruit. Pour was a nice medium gold with a one finger white head. Taste was very hoppy. Grapefruit and hay with a slight orange flavor. Could not detect rye in this beer. Nice carbonation. ttutony (922) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 25, 2013
Spicy hop and rye aroma. Potent hop bitterness, near IPA level. But maintains balance and the hops are backed by a nice spicy malt presence. Great rye beer. keanex (1799) - Atco, New Jersey, USA - APR 16, 2013
On tap at Blue Monkey Tavern.johnbuck100 (306) - Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 30, 2013
Appearance: Clear amber body that shows off carbonation. Pillowy light tan head, great retention.
Aroma: Citrus, honeydew, cucumber, rye, and slight acidic aroma that reminds me of vomit.
Taste: Cucumber on the intro into heavy rye with citrus with that vomit aroma coming in on the finish lightly.
Palate: Medium body, medium carbonation.
Overall: This reminds me of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, both have this vomit esque aroma and flavor. I can’t get over it.
Growler from brewpub. reddish brown pour and nice creamy head 3 weeks after fill. i am not an expert on rye ipa’s, but this has an really nice complex flavor, lots of everything: hops, cereal, roasty, very full-bodied. As usual for victory, an excellent offering- I am so glad I live close to this brewery. Recommended. MrChopin (4304) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAR 27, 2013
hazy orange, heavy lacing, thin ring. Nose is manure, faint diacetyl, heavy orange peel. Standard flavor: burnt sugar, orange, diacetyl and cardboard shooting in and out. Crisp carbonation on full body. Messy all over. reggiedunlop (3725) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 25, 2013
Pours clear amber with a medium white head...great lacing. Aroma has light spice and caramel. Flavor is very caramely with earthy hop notes...light rye creeping in. Mouthfeel is light and silky with a very dry earthy/bitter rye finish. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 23, 2013
Tap at victory. Clear darker amber pour. Sheets of thick white lacing. Nose is big diacetyl, huge buttered popcorn. Taste is malty, dusty, decent buttered rye toast. Drinkable but with a major diacetyl problem. Nutty, bitter, bread crusty palate. boxofrane (2553) - Spring City, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 19, 2013
Draft at the brew pub. Pours hazy copper with a medium sized off white head. The aroma has a whole loaf of rye bread, some pine, some hoppy citrus. The taste is very hoppy and medium bitter. The finish is dry and adds a bitter trail. Light citrus balance. Very enjoyable. jkwood04 (5452) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 17, 2013
Pours amber with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of citrusy hops, spiciness from the yeast, spiciness from the rye, caramel and pale malts, and a light fruitiness. Flavor the same, with a good blend of everything and the light spicy notes adding to the beer. Average texture. A good beer.
