Ungstrup (38249) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUN 13, 2009
Bottled. Thanks to Greg Koch. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and straw, leading to a dry bitter finish.

20080510 From growler at Pauls 1st Hoboken gathering. Thanks to Egajdzis. Yummy, boozy, enjoyable beer with obvious Belgian inspiration in the form of dominant phenols and heavy handed alcohol. Very drinkable.

Bottle courtesy of Greg Koch at our stop at the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens on 08/03/2008 on day three of RBSG 2008. Clear golden body with a small white head. Big belgian spice aroma and fairly hoppy. Light belgian spice flavor with some light hop presence. Light body with mdoerate carbonation.

Bottle... RBSG ‘08... Clear golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The aroma releases fresh, spicy hops along with all the appropriate Belgian yeast esters and phenols that I just don’t like... banana, smoke, clove, etc. Full-bodied and oily with humble carbonation. Malty and sweet up front; well-bittered, fruity and spicy on the backside. Lengthy, spicy, astringent finish. Kudos to Greg Koch for popping the top on this one !

From bottle at Stone Bistro. Pours golden orange with a small tan head. Caramel and mild spiced aroma, a bit dull. Spiced, caramel and light hoppy flavour lingering from start to finish.

Nice head atop supler clear filtered bronze. The nose was quite yeasty and bready with banana characteristics. Flavors were yeasty as well with spicy banana-bread notes.

Pours with a crystal clear amber-gold body topped by a medium thick, white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s spicy and hoppy with noted of grass, an underlying malty sweetness and some alcohol esters. Medium to full bodied and hot.

First, this is spelled wrong. I have seen the beer logo and it is Saphire, with one "h". Interesting combination of a Hallertau hop with a Belgian yeast. Hazy amber, good white head. Sweet malty and fruity nose, taste of malts, Belgian yeast, alcohol, diacetyl bubble gum, combination of Barleywine and Belgian, with a little Belgian funk in the end, before the hops ... I have wanted Victory to make a more up-to-date and more complex Belgian, following Allagash and Lost Abbey. I don’t know if this is it or not, but I’’ have another one and rerate.

Growler. Poured a lightly hazed gold with a white head. Light malty aroma with yeasty notes breaking up the sweetness. Sweet malt flavor with a hoppy middle and a bitter semi-dry finish. Medium bodied.

Thanks to Russ for this one. Clear amber body. Aroma has sweet bubblegum and yeast. Flavor is sweet syrupy, bubblegum, fruity up front, light banana. Body is quite thick.
