Tap at Barcade. This is pretty much just pure weizenbock. I get very little smoke. Lots of peanut brittle, flower, banana esters in the nose. Chummy orange, unfiltered pour. Full wheat and very bubble-gummy flavor, a bit thin, with only a hint of hammy smoke in the finish. Not a failure by any means, but I’d appreciate a lot more smoke and dark maltiness in this. Tap at Barcade. Hazy golden-amber beer. Aroma is lightly smokey, soft spicy maltiness with a kiss of banana yeastiness. The smoke seems to come more in the form of yeasty phenolics rather than actual rauch malt. Crisp spicy yeast character over some nice rich wheaty malts. Pretty nice brew. kevin62 (267) - New Jersey, USA - SEP 15, 2008
Had this on draft.Poured an hazy golden color with a small white head.Aromas were of light banana, apple and smoke. The taste had some hints of spice, clove, wheat and then on the finish I got the smoke.A very unusual beer, something I have never had before, but would definetly enjoy from time to time. hopdog (12953) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 13, 2008
On tap at Victory. Poured a medium and lighlty hazy golden color with a very small sized head. Aromas of smoke (camp fire and smoked meats) with some banana coming through. Tastes of smoke (but not as strong as in the aromas), some fruitiness, and spices. WISEGUY572 (1377) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 12, 2008
I’ve never had anything quite like this ... a smoked wheat beer. I guess the name is a hybrid of Scarlet Fire smoked lager and Moon Glow wheat. Nose and taste of cloves and pepper, sweet fruit of the Moon Glow with smoke. Interesting. Big wheat head, moderate lacing. I left with a growler and will rerate at some point over the next couple of days.

Draught at the Brewery: Aroma of coriander, apples, cloves, and a little smoke. Poured golden/amber in color, with a small, dense, creamy, white head that lasted throughout. Hazy. Very sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of yeast, fruit, cloves, and some smoke. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Dry, sweet finish. More of a weizenbock than a smoked. Not expecting much out this brew, but was happily surprised....Slightly creamy, slightly citrus (I know it is a smoked beer), perfect with my brisket sandwich at the Victory brewpub. TomDecapolis (4618) - Milton, Delaware, USA - SEP 1, 2008
On tap at Victory. Pours a lightly hazy amber with lots of golden notes and a medium creamy off white head that laced. Aroma of banana, clove, great smokey notes, wheat and kind of sweet. Flavor was pretty much a match of the aroma. Again a touch on the sweet side...but at 7.4% that is expected. egajdzis (6692) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 30, 2008
Poured a murky golden / light brown color with a medium sized, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of banana, clove, smoke, light citrus, vanilla, and wood. Taste of citrus fruits, vanilla, banana, clove, burnt wood, smoked meats, and black pepper, with a bit of alcohol in the finish. Carbonation was a little high for my liking here. joeymacaroni (309) - Wagontown, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 28, 2008
technically i think Victory calls it a Rauchweizenbock.
pours hazy orange with a 2-finger fluffy off-white head and lots of lacing. aroma of beef jerky and orange. light spice and banana as well. i’m also picking up green pepper. flavor is smoky, citrusy, apricot, spices. lingering citrus, pepper and smoke in the aftertaste. intriguing and different, but done very well.
