4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a bottle poured black/brown with a little brown head. Nice malty hoppy flavor with a strong lasting finish.
(Bottle) Opaque black body with a small disappearing tan head. Aroma dark roast coffee, wood. Full bodied, foamy and chewy. Flavor is moderately sweet (some berry), and mild bitterness that lasts and builds a little as the sweetness fades; lots of woody notes and hint of smoke; mild chocolate; coffee and peat. A lot going on in the flavor; dynamic. oobawa (1926) - Tennessee, USA - JAN 19, 2018
Lovely imperial stout, swinging from one extreme to the other, starting with a rich, gentle, indulgent sweet chocolate-and-caramel front before doing a one-eighty and plowing straight into a prolonged, clingy, palate-scouring bitter back end. Mostly eschews the dark fruits found in most impy stouts for anise, dark roast coffee, and hints of vanilla among the brief sweet streak, but the real treasure is the prolonged, biting finish, dry as hell yet still dusted with cocoa and roasty malt. Pours a dark, dark brown that grows black, with a fleeting off-white head and ample lacing. Surprising amount of caramel on the nose, not a whole lot of chocolate and roasted notes. Creamy texture has just a hint of alcohol warmth. Delicious. DandyWolfFloyd (1342) - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 15, 2018
Aroma - is rich with roast, coffee, chocolate, and some bold hops and. booze.
Appearance - black as night body. Some tan head that settles slowly. Good sud lacing.
Taste - rich roast, chocolate, alcohol, coffee, and licorice.

Opaque black color with tanned head. Aroma has coffee, licorice, dark malt, vanilla. Taste is malty sweet with long bitter aftertaste. Flavors of coffee, malt, bitter elements, licorice, vanilla.
Bottle, Wine Warehouse. This is one I'd assumed I'd tried every time I saw it - and perhaps I did and somehow didn't rate it. But today I was determined to take home a case of singles I'd yet to rate and I checked everything in the store until I got to 24 - and lo and behold, no rating for Storm King.
Pours dark brown with a soft tan head.
Aroma is sweet chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, caramel, light coffee, sweat.
Flavor is dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, coffee beans and liquid, earth.
Nice bitter back end. Flavorful but not complex. Very solid.

Pours almost black from the bottle. Medium beige head. Palette is strong, but not over bearing. Flavor is very good with coffee overtones and caramel after taste. Great beer to accompany your dinner.

Nice aroma of roasted malts and coffee, a bit of earthy hops and a bit of alcoholic spiciness. Taste follows the nose, being a nice standard to the impy profile. Nice roasted malts profile, a bit dusty, not very complex but good nonetheless. Bitter, roasty aftertaste. MKromhoutNC (33) - North Carolina, USA - NOV 3, 2017
Almost too much, not a beer to be taken on lightly. Delicious deep complex flavors, but a bit of harsh or even burnt on the end.

Pour black, but not as thick as many imperial stouts, with a thick head that lingers. Aroma is hops with slight roast. Taste is initially bitter hops, evolving into roast. Aftertaste in slight hops. Not among my favorite stouts. dorain (754) - Berlin, GERMANY - OCT 26, 2017
