With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart.

Aroma of toffee, coffee, and good ole roastiness greets you on the pour. A nice dark opaque black with plenty of mouthfeel. Flavor starts out roasty and malty but finishes with a nice bitterness. One of my favorite Russians.

Clear blackish brown colour with nice beige coloured head that leaves nice lacing behind. Aroma has dark roasted malts, some dark chocolate, espresso coffee too. Taste is quite dry with dark roasted malts, espresso coffee and slight sweetness as dark chocolate. Full body and lowish carbonation. Taste is nice but aroma wasnt giving away all the secrets.

This beer packs a chocolatey-coffee smooth, powerful punch. It's so yummy--like if there was winter camp for grown-ups and this was served in Styrofoam cups around the campfire; that kind of yummy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Black. Rich soft roasty malty, thick nose, going towards coffee, roasted coffee beans, real dry chocolate. Full bodied, smooth, roasty. The malts are really clearly present though, isnt a tongue numbing roast bomb. Pretty drinkabe for the style, doesnt burn through your palate. Flavourful, rich, nice balance.

0.355 l bottle from BierPost.com, best before March 2016 (I believe almost two years old). Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and quite fruity-resiny aroma of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee, a touch of pine and hints of blueberry. Moderately sweet, malty, quite roasty and very fruity-resiny taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, pine, blueberry and tropical fruits, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, resiny and dry finish. Medium to full body, almost creamy and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Really tasty and satisfying, great hoppy Imperial Stout! I wonder how hoppy a fresh bottle would be?!

Bottle. In aroma there is completely nothing. In taste nice milky like chocolate, light roatiness. Medium body, silky texture, bitter finish. Ok.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2016 Bottle. 3-way comparison tasting vs. North Coast Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout and Founders Breakfast Stout. Victory Strom King is the clear winner. The common denominator of these 3 relatively high-ABV stouts is sweet coffee-based aromas and flavors. Old Rasputin was a relative one-trick pony with a strong, unrelenting sweet boozy coffee experience with a lingering bitter finish. Founders Breakfast Stout was very sweet, and the coffee was definitely a light-roast grind, almost like Folgers instant decaf, although at least with a clean finish. Victory Storm King is smooth. Yes, all the sweet boozy coffee flavor is there, but no off-flavors, and the coffee is a definitely a richer dark-roast grind. All 3 are very good stouts, but the distinctions are clear, and the grades here are good, better and best.

Pours near black with a decent tan head. Nose is hop forward with a good dose of floral and bitter with some stout roast in the background. Flavor is a very smooth blend of coffee, chocolate, hops, alcohol, and a little dark fruit. Finish is subtle and sticky. Very drinkable for an imperial stout.
