COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart.

Aroma of coffee. Small disappearing tan head in this sample. Extremely dark brown color, nearly opaque even when held up to light. This sample doesnt seem extremely fresh, which is actually a plus because the fresh ones Ive had seem to have a nearly overwhelming hop presence. Moderate bitterness throughout, along with a deep roasted malt character with hints of unsweetened chocolate. Bitterness is more pronounced at the finish if you press your tongue to your palate. Body is full, creamy, oily. Carbonation in this sample is soft. Has a licorice taste when I burp. Not as mind-blowing the third time around, but still probably the best imperial stout Ive had, when the hops have time to mellow a bit.

Pours dark brown almost black, opaque, with foamy brown head. Aroma: intense dark malts & roasted grain, supported with dark fruits esters. Flavor is similar, with intense. Roasted grain note, dark malts, which takes on coffee, bitter dark chocolate, supported with hop flavor, which takes on floral, with some spiciness. Body is full, texture almost creamy, carbonation is moderate.

Bottle. Aroma is dark chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, coffee, hints of dark red plum. Black, small beige head. Medium+ sweetness, medium bitterness, taste, dark malts, coffee, dark bitter chocolate, roasted malts. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, long finish with lots of bitterness and roasted tones, some lingering sweetness. Nice, but too heavy bitterness.

Clear blackish brown colour with nice beige coloured head that leaves nice lacing behind. Aroma has dark roasted malts, some dark chocolate, espresso coffee too. Taste is quite dry with dark roasted malts, espresso coffee and slight sweetness as dark chocolate. Full body and lowish carbonation. Taste is nice but aroma wasnt giving away all the secrets.

This beer packs a chocolatey-coffee smooth, powerful punch. It's so yummy--like if there was winter camp for grown-ups and this was served in Styrofoam cups around the campfire; that kind of yummy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

jookos (5886) - FINLAND - JAN 4, 2017
Bottle. Black. Rich soft roasty malty, thick nose, going towards coffee, roasted coffee beans, real dry chocolate. Full bodied, smooth, roasty. The malts are really clearly present though, isnt a tongue numbing roast bomb. Pretty drinkabe for the style, doesnt burn through your palate. Flavourful, rich, nice balance.

0.355 l bottle from BierPost.com, best before March 2016 (I believe almost two years old). Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty and quite fruity-resiny aroma of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee, a touch of pine and hints of blueberry. Moderately sweet, malty, quite roasty and very fruity-resiny taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, pine, blueberry and tropical fruits, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, resiny and dry finish. Medium to full body, almost creamy and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Really tasty and satisfying, great hoppy Imperial Stout! I wonder how hoppy a fresh bottle would be?!

Bottle. In aroma there is completely nothing. In taste nice milky like chocolate, light roatiness. Medium body, silky texture, bitter finish. Ok.
