Before Prohibition, thirst quenching lagers were firm and substantial, and enjoyed in huge volumes. This recipe incorporates yeast from the C. Schmidt Brewery of Philadelphia and a small portion of brewer's corn to recreate an 'industrial' lager of the turn of the century.

Maxs. Sweet, slightly corny nose, with some nice herbal and grassy hops. Taste is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, grassy, light lemon, some hay. Medium light body is soft with gentle carbonation. Excellent adjunct lager.

On tap, at brewery. Pours a clear pale gold with a frothy white head. Pale malts, a little corn, and some crackery malt on the nose. Maybe not exciting, but better than most Pale Lagers. Light, clean and refreshing flavor, you can tell theres corn in there, but its a positive in here actually. Light bodied, fizzy prickly carbonation, unusually clean finish for a Pale Lager. Pretty nice, good corn flavor without all the DMS or veggie flavor.

Tap at Maxs. Clear yellow pour with a thin white head. Slightly sweet cereal aroma with grassy hops. Sweet flavor with crisp grain, noticeable corn. Fades to a bitter hop finish. Not bad, but I found the sweetness a bit too much for me.

Light golden color, clear with a small head, very macro looking... cereal grain aroma minimal hoppiness, flavor follows suit... as decent as a pale lager can be i guess...

Tap at CAH. Pours a very light golden clear and a thin white head. Aroma is a touch of corn and vegetal, crackery and cereal notes, but still has some dough and fresh malt, very light hops. Flavor is more corn, dms, slight metallic and reminds me of a bad bud, with a bit of a twang in the end. When you make beers like the v-lager helles, there is no need to make something like this. Ugh.

Pours a nice slightly cloudy gold with a decent bubbly white head. Very clean, crisp, corny/cereal aroma. Clean taste with no flaws. Crisp, dry finish. Easy drinking - a fantastic conversion brew.

Pours a pale yellowish color with a thin head. The smell is very bland nothing too intense to pick up. The flavor is maltyand has some bitterness. Overall carbonation is ok and is refreshing out of a keg.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Aroma of corn, sweet pale malt. Flavor quite corny, grainy, but nothing offensive, quite refreshing in fact. For something modeled after shit, quite good.
