4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a very nice dark hazy amber. Smells very sweet, like candy and fruit. Tastes very good. Sweet, fruity, sticky. Like dried dark fruits (dates/grapes) with a warm, spicy, alcoholic finish. Very good, very strong, must try.
From Jan 2006
Poured from bottle(bottled on Aug 27th 2004) a ruby semi *clear* gold with a very nice head of foam that diminishes slowly but never leaves the scene.
The smell was immediately apparent right after I removed the stubborn cork....a whoosh of mixed fruits including bananas and plums. Oh, and there's a bit of a sour smell there as well. Could be good. ;^)
The taste is very fruity as well. Tons of plum with some banana and some citrus and also, a sweetness that smacks of caramel. In the far background, I sense a bit of clove. Wow. This son of a gun is so complex and wonderfully harmonious with its flavours. And dang, the 12% abv is there but is pretty well hidden. Why was this beer retired??? Thank goodness I have 3 more bottles.
*Clear as in I'm drinking from the first 3rd of the bottle. What is left in the bottle is looking a bit more cloudy.
Btw, I've had this one a couple of times in the past(+2 years ago) and the bottling dates weren't a year and a half from when I tried them like this one(much less) so the aging done by Liquid Solutions or whomever has definitely paid off big time, imho!
Bottom line: If you see some around your neck of the woods....grab 'em!

Color: the lightest Quad I have ever seen. Looked and tasted more like a triple to me. Reminded me of their golden monkey beer. I would've taste tested them side-by-side to see if this wasn't a bomber. Notes of plum and rum soaked raisins. A bit peppery. Prominent alcohol taste.

Pours murky amber from the bottle. The frothy white head soon fades. Aroma is apple cider, plum, vinegar. Taste is sweet with caramel and fruity notes, soggy sponge, tart apple vinegar. Big bodied with mild carbonation. The imperfectly hidden alcohol makes itself felt in the finish. Okay. dalekliz (925) - New Jersey, USA - SEP 1, 2017
Bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber with a small bubbly white head that fades to a ring. Sweet aroma, with booze and oak, caramel malt, and dark fruits. Taste is quite sweet to start then picks up an oak and hops bite before going back to sweet with dark fruits and brown sugar again. Alcohol burn on the end. Lingering sparkly sweetness. Excellent. voyageurmike (510) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 30, 2017
Bomber from Wegman's. Dark orange clear with full body. Raisin and caramel aroma. Honey and pepper boozy taste.

25.4-ounce caged and corked bottle pours clear copper-orange with trace of off-white head and lacing. Aroma: cherries, plums, balsamic vinegar, apples. Flavor: malt-forward (candi sugar, caramelized brown sugar) with ripe plums, raisins, dates, white pepper, black pepper. Mouthfeel: full-bodied; boozy burn on finish that singes the nose hairs. A suitable sipper for by the fireplace, dog at feet, with pipe and newspaper in hand -- although I enjoyed this on a warm summer night as well! solidfunk (9409) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - AUG 12, 2017
Really top notch stuff like Cohiba cigars. Coriander and loads of florals. Golden pour with good head and lacing. A little grass and some citrus. Wonderful complexity. Light sweet finish with some astringency. Nice. Bottle. ffaoe (921) - Moorestown, New Jersey, USA - AUG 9, 2017
Strong malty aroma. Amber and clear in color with nice long lasting head. Strong malty flavors of caramel, raison, and faint plum. jonas (8039) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - JUN 13, 2017
Bottle at Tap-House Munich for my rating #7500. Dark amber to Brown, Low offwhite head. Honey, spice aroma. Fullbodied, some sugar notes, Belgian fruity yeast notes: fresh apple, fermenting tropical, light banana, sweet potatoe. Chewy, caramel grain, fitting hop backstop. Good Belgian notes, perhaps a bit too sugary, but quite drinkable nonetheless. SinH4 (6265) - Garching b. Mnchen, GERMANY - JUN 13, 2017
Bottle, shared for jonas’ 7500th rating. Hazy amber color with small white head. Aroma is fruit esters, caramel, raisins, musty. Taste is raisins, musty, toffee. Medium carbonation, warming finish. Well-made, but somehow these rather pale beers above 10% are not for me.
