Reddish gold with a bit of white head. Aroma is sweet estery mulled apple spice with a cheesecake note on top, and a slight oaky sharpness. Taste is mostly the same, but the oak is prominent, and carries with it a chord of chardonnay flavors that dry on the palate into the finish. On balance, this isn’t as sweet as the standard Monkey, and it’s a nice tweak with a known good combination. $10/750ml #1600
Draft at HO1K Beers. Light fruits, grapes, slight buttery Chardonnay. Slight tart. Some Belgium spice. It's pretty good.

Pours clear topaz with a thick and frothy, if not lasting, cream head. Aroma presents fresh malt, sweet apple, white wine, and hints of wood and butterscotch. Flavor delivers sweet wine, fresh malt, fruity, and shy woody tones, almost more wine than beer, tasty and enjoyable regardless. Mouthfeel features smooth, if not robust, body and OK fizz, along with a woody and wine finish. Bottle from Brewtopia. Golden orange with haze and wing. White wine and honey and spice aroma with some banana esters. Very sweet honey peach with light spicy bitterness in long sweet sticky finish. Full body very fine carbo with a bite. Not pleasant. I'm going to let it warm up a bit while I have a different beer. Pours a light golden yellowish color. Aromas of fruit, yeast and some pepper. Flavors are sour, yeasty, and a touch of wine barrel at the finish.

Flaska från SB, ca 2 år gammal. Disig gyllengul vätska med högt skum. Relativt mycket kolsyra. Väldigt mycket smörig och ekad chardonnay i doften. Fatkaraktären dominerar smaken men grundölet klara det riktigt bra och kombinationen är riktigt fin. Trippelns lätta sötma funkar väldigt bra med fatkaraktären. Pours deep gold with a medium white fluffy head. Aroma is chardonnay, oak, florals, grass and hay. Taste is sweet with a tinge of sourness that is rounded out with some spiciness. The barrel presence is really strong in the aroma which is surprising considering it was only aged for three months. Decent amount of oak but not too overpowering or toothpick-like. Subtle vinous wine presence with grape, raisin and other light berries. The most prominent barrel characteristics in the nose are toasted coconut and vanilla. They really stand out and add another dimension to the base beer. That being said, the base beer is overshadowed with faint hints of American tripel. Picking up some ester-y light fruit along with some bready yeast, faint spice and alcohol. The barrel elements smell pretty good but I would have preferred a little more of the base beer in the nose. I don’t think I could have guessed that it was Golden Monkey if I didn’t know that it was the base beer.
Medium body with soft carbonation and strong barrel flavors that linger over the yeast, spice, light fruit and alcohol into a sweet, slightly dry finish. A little more toothpick than in the nose but not overly charred or harsh. Dry, toasted oak along with some toasted coconut and vanilla. Again, these are most prominent but the white wine character is a little stronger in the flavor profile. Hints of wine, grape, raisin and other vinous fruit followed by peppery spice, bready yeast, light fruit and boozy sweetness. Some sourdough bread alng with cider and pear flavor before finishing with a touch of heat. The high ABV is decently masked, however and this beer is surprisingly easy to drink given it’s complexity. Overall, this isn’t the most interesting barrel aged beer but the white wine barrels provide a nice variation on the regular version.
bottle. Golden with two finger head. Really interesting flavors here. The white wine adds some mild tartness. The sweetness of the base tripel counters. Plenty of belgian esters. Yeasty goodness. Mild booze. A bit of a sipper, but very nice beer.
