Bold, spicy, menacingly delicious HopDevil takes on an entirely new dimension when subjected to a wild yeast fermentation. A sharp, sourish edge has been added by this fermentations that plays into the caramel sweet malt deliciously and creates complex interplay with citrus accented hops.

Bottled. A dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has strong notes of brettanomyces combined with medium notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet and acidic with notes of brettanomyces combined with caramel, leading to a dry and tart finish. Thanks Dr. Bill for sharing.

750 ml bottle at Birreria Paradiso, shared with everyone within sight (but we still couldn’t finish the bottle). Clear copper color, large off white head. Aroma is barely present. Taste has plenty of malt, some bread dough, and a bit of funk in the finish. Lacks character and complexity. Would not try this again.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Lightly hazy red, lively head. Bretty nose with sweat, hay and orange. Medium bodied with well rounded spritzy mouthfeel. Floral and grassy, Orvallish with complexity and drinkability. Growing piney bitterness. Great beer!

Tap at Barcade. Nice brew. Strong, wild yeast aroma. Flavor is sweet like candy with just enough yeasty funkiness to keep things interesting. Anymore funk and I wouldn’t be such a fan. Some subtle maltiness adds to the pleasure. Very solid on the whole.

On tap at White Horse, Parsons Green. Hazy russet, copper edge, thin beige head. Brett toffee hop aroma. Lovely bretty aroma. Then pretty good toffee, then very green leaves on the aftertaste. And then some hop with forced carbonation sting. Certainly interesting.
