Nice roasted flavor. VERY drinkable. Good session beer. This beer is packed with flavor, but not too heavy. Reathai (7) - USA - OCT 19, 2002 does not count
Victory has changed their porter slightly this year (02). It is much tastier with a heavy coffee/cocoa taste that gets your buds singing. This is a truly excellent porter, although a little light in color, the flavor is big. You have to stick your nose in a pint and get a whiff - awesome aroma. Porters and stouts along with the seasonal bocks and fest beers are my most favorite styles. So I seek them out, this is a very could porter with a rich roasted malt aroma and has that semi-sweet slightly dry finish that I crave. Decent hops add a good balnce to the roasted grains. fuchebu (146) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 10, 2001

Black with a white head. Malty aroma. Lightly smooth with an understated bitter malt flavor. Humbly satisfying. monkeyman (57) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 21, 2003
Tasting notes from 1 pint at the Mecca (~ 1 week prior to Memorial Day ’03)... Giant muscular malty mouthfeel from the start, with hints of fine chocolate. Please oh please Mr. Covaleski -- BOTTLE THIS! euserphriendly (167) - Holland, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 7, 2005
A weet porter with a good balance of complex flavors. Satisfied my girlfriend’s sweet beer craving. dolemike1 (1288) - Jeannette, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 19, 2002
A good porter, very drinkable with nice sweet roasted coffee flavors. Not the best but a good effort. apoptosis (1317) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 4, 2003
Probably because it was on draught, it looked more like a stout than a porter. Smells likes ash, tastes roasted and ash-like. Little notes of cocoa. Smooth and full-flavored body. Dry, and pleasantly not too heavy.
