Draft at Standard Tap. Pours a dark, clean, amber, with fluffy beige head. Nose of roast, caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, piney and grassy hops. Medium to full body with a creamy mouthfeel. Lots of sweet caramel and roasted malts with potent pine. Fairly bitter finish. Good beer, taste like a black ipa, doesn’t really look like one.

12oz bottle, enjoyed well beyond the freshness date. Dark brownish ruby in color. Strong malt, pine and booze in the aroma. Taste is pretty similar, with some citrus hops and moderate bitterness. Not bad at all.

Dark Dark brown pour with reddish hue, a few inches beige head of medium density. Decent lacing. Delicious powdery scent - creamy citrus hops dominate. Taste is scotchy and carmel malt, a bit smokey, citrus hops too, again pretty creamy. Average carbonation, watery mouthfeel, dry, boozy finish. This is a great black IPA and a steal in the dollar bin. Because it was supposed to be enjoyed by a full year ago, I’m stoked to try a fresh one. Overall tastes like a scotch ale/IPA hybrid.

Dark ruby brown, tan head, thin layer remaining. Caramel, orange, raisin, sweet. Hops are there to balance sweetness, but to me the sweet overpowers the hop flavor. Good, but not a style I prefer.

Appears reddish brown with aroma of sweet malt, raisins, and dried fruit much like a strong ale or barleywine. Incredible marshallow like beige head. Terrible beer if you think you are getting an ipa. Taste of bitter hops, no fresh hop notes as supposed to be. Very dry finish. Great if you think you are getting into a strong ale. Not sure what to think...

Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a dark chestnut brown with a nice tanned head. Roasted malts and hops on the nose with loads of dark fruits. Very bold smelling stuff!! The taste is much the same with a nice hoppy sweetness at the end. Dark fruits play a big role in the sweetness. Don't mind this one ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark brown (not black, like most Black IPAs), with a medium head and a fair bit of sediment. Looks kind of like a barleywine in the glass. Powerful aroma, with caramel malts and assertive floral/pine hops vying for attention. Flavor is more hop-driven, with a stronger malt backbone than most IPAs, but less maltiness than most other Black IPAs. A bit astringent on the finish. A solid but not outstanding example of the style.

hopmelt (197) - Painesville TWP, Ohio, USA - AUG 11, 2013
Pours reddish brown, half finger tan head, nice lacing. Aroma toast, dough, toasty malt, earthy hops. Taste is bitter dark malt, earthy hops, slight caramel and toasted malt, bitter finish. Mouth feel medium, lower carbonation, astringent bite from black malt, finish is slightly on the dry side. Overall, not bad, a bit bitter, not well balanced, doesn’t fit my palate.

7/04/2010: Victory Yakima Twilight... Aroma: Bread crust; toasted caramel/toffee malts; floral and earthy hops. Appearance: Reddish-brown color; quite dark; some Flavor: Palate: Sweet bitter with the thick, cheqwy toffee malt followed by quite a bit of earthy bitterness with a citrus flair at the end. Overall: Decent, drinkable beer; was hoping for something a bit more refined; I would like to try this beer again...
