Bottle->SA. Medium brown with thick lig tan head. Aroma: sweet malt, nuts, bread, caramel. Taste: sweet malt and citrus hops, with a bittersweet finish. Just OK. ThreeCats (900) - ISRAEL - JUN 18, 2013
Big tan head over amber-red body (thought this was suppose to be a black IPA?) Aroma of grass and lemony hops and some oxidation and chalk. Taste of big bitterness upfront and more bitterness afterwards. Roast and coffee (doesn’t come out in aroma much, but in flavor) palate hoppy and roasty berniecarbo (148) - Holliston, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 18, 2013
The description says this is a "heavyweight battle between Yakima hops and dark roasted malt", battle over, hops crushed malt and not in a good way. Pours a dark brownish, strong hop persents. Taste comes through with strong piney, resiney and bitter. Great label, down hill after that. salishan1969 (16) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - JUN 15, 2013
This was my first Black IPA, it’s pretty interesting, Thin head with nice lacing very rich sort of medium hazy brown color. The taste is typical IPA, maybe mellowed slightly with a "roasty" almost coffee-like characteristic. Ed5388 (3478) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - JUN 7, 2013
12oz bottle. Pours a deep walnut brown color with a very thin tan head. Not much on the aroma. Hints of roasted malt, nuts, and a very faint hoppiness. Wow, taste is a whole other story! Very roasty and bitter. Lots of roasted malt, burn toast, some oak, and piny/earthy hops!

Poured from a bottle into a chalice. Consumed on a patio. Pours dark rust brown with a generous tan head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is citrus hops and malt that comes through amplified in the flavour. The dark malts compliment the pleasantly bitter hops beautifully. This is a perfect patio beer for early spring. An easy drinking dark IPA. I love it! Pershing (560) - Garland, Texas, USA - MAY 26, 2013
Dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of pine and citrus. Excellent hop bitterness to balance the large amount of malt in this one. Rich mouth feel of the malt. Lingering and filling finish that is slightly dry. BillWyce (1086) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 25, 2013
From notes: Poured hazy ruby red-amber with a 1-finger bone-colored head. Deep, rich grapefruity hops aroma with a touch of caramel sweetness underneath. Full body with a moderate thickness. Flavor of piney, resiny hops with a dry finish. Mild nutty note beneath. sodakotakid (230) - Belle Fourche, South Dakota, USA - MAY 23, 2013
pours a nice redish brown with a big tan head. This may be one of the worst beers I have ever had. The bitterness over whelms everything. This beer starts off sweet then goes immediately to bitterness. There are bitter hops, dark fruit flavors and bitter citrus flavor, YUCK!! shonobiwan (219) - Sound Beach, New York, USA - MAY 21, 2013
Long Island, NY - 12 oz. bottle poured a cola color with a hint of dark burgundy with decent off white head and minimal lacing. Though this is suppose to be a Black IPA aroma was more like a dark ale with dark fruit overtones and with a hint of hops. The taste was the same. Interesting beer, definitely worth revisiting.
