On tap at Victory. Poured a dark ruby brown, off white head. Decent foam head with some good layered lacing. Mild hops and citrus on the nose. Hops in the front with a nice malt smooth texture, citrus notes and slight pepper flavor. Only thing bad about this one was availability, growler fills denied due to low quantities. Good stuff and a wonderful strong ale. TeamTrappist (832) - jericho, New York, USA - SEP 18, 2009
Tap at Browerij. Poured a rich copper color with a small light tan head. Full nose of floral hops, big malts. The nose says drink me. This beer is full bodied and full flavored. It tastes as you would expect a dark Ipa to taste, with nice floral hop, but a richer and fuller malt backbone. Neither is overpowering leaving this really drinkable and really good. tennisjoel (1448) - Rochester, Minnesota, USA - SEP 16, 2009
Sampled at ABR ’09. Stinky cheese aroma, but it seems to improve as I drink this. Caramel malts with dry hops. Kind of a hybrid between strong IPA and porter/stout. Decent. GMCC2181 (1608) - Newark, Delaware, USA - SEP 14, 2009
Growler shared at SL by bruce (crazy canuck) Black in color, decent head. Good aroma of roasted malts and hops. Taste is a nice balance between the two. More on the hoppier side, light roasted malts... Medium texture. Overall I not really fan of these black IPA but this one was pretty good. Thanks bruce for sharing Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 7, 2009
Enjoyed on tap in a tulip glass. The beer pours an opaque black color with a slight off-white head. The nose does not give quite the hop complexity I’d expected (the beer was listed as a black IPA), and instead shows about a 50/50 combination of citrusy (Cascade) hops and roasted malts. The palate is decidedly roasted, giving hints of malt sweetness, but some obvious flavors of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and espresso. It isn’t quite a stout or a baltic porter, but its not quite an IPA, either. Overall, not great, but an interesting, if muddled, hybrid.

Brewed in the USA..... On tap at Victory !!! Pours a dark amber brown color with a nice thick white head. Aroma of tangerines, hops, malts and caramel. Taste of dark roasted malts, grapefruit, pine, tangerines and biscuits. Mouthfeel is very smooth, medium in carbonation and body with some lingering hop bite at the finish. The 8.9% is hidden very well and i could drink this all night long. This was simply delicious !!! I really wanted to take home a growler of this fine brew. Unfortunately they were running low. :( snakeoilpete (324) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 11, 2009
On tap at Naked City’s Victory Night for SBW. Pours dark red with a decent off-white head. Strong barleywine-like hoppy strawberry caramel aroma and taste. Smooth with a malty pine finish. mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 17, 2009
[1966-20090124] Tap. Heavy orange hops aroma has candy and mild sweaty citrus notes. Clear, dark red brown body with a quick foamy light tan head. Sweet boozy orange hops flavour has bitter fruity hops throughout. Medium-full body. Heavy and bitter.

On draft at GL. Pours a dark yet clear burgundy color with a medium sized beige head. Aroma of grapefruit and tangy hops. Taste of dark grapefruit with lots of hops. Quite tangy. blankboy (7662) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 5, 2009
Draught at ’Cole’s Rare Beer Fest’, Buffalo, NY. Pours a very deep ruby, almost brown, with a small diminishing off-white head. Aroma’s a bit roasty along with lots of hops and notes of cocoa, chocolate and citrus fruit. Flavour’s sweet, slightly sugary, lightly roasted and fruity -- it reminds me of a Terry’s Chocolate Orange along with lots of hops. Finish is quite bitter. Average to medium bodied. Very good, I quite enjoyed it.
