Thisis hard to classify. The flavor is complex. It has hoppy IPA characteristics but also it has some dark roasted malt flavor. There is a slight bit of bit chocolate. It is very interesting. bigben873 (249) - Virginia, USA - MAR 18, 2011
March Madness 2011
Aroma - almost no noticeable aroma
Appearance - Dark amber, clear, moderate head
Taste - Is this a Black IPA or a Black Pale Ale? Taste is indecisive
Palate - mediume body, good carbonation
Overall - Not a beer I would (personally) drink regularly but pretty tasty with a unique flavor. NeuroPliny (246) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 26, 2013
Poured from a bottle into a chalice. Consumed on a patio. Pours dark rust brown with a generous tan head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is citrus hops and malt that comes through amplified in the flavour. The dark malts compliment the pleasantly bitter hops beautifully. This is a perfect patio beer for early spring. An easy drinking dark IPA. I love it! beerlover82 (241) - Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 9, 2010
A= pours into glass a dark ruby red, really dark with thick head that lasts a good while, leaving behind solid lacing.
Aroma and Taste= sweet malts with some citrus pine hops in the background.
Body= very thick without being too overpowering.
Another outstanding winner from the great Victory Brewing. They never fail to please. Be careful, because at 8.7% ABV, you do not want to have more than a few micronaut129 (241) - chalfontborotowntonbergville, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 2, 2012
Pours a rich and velvetty deep maghoany color withan equally tall dense head. Aroma is of rich malts with a hoppy sort of muddle hop bouquet.
Taste is rich dark with roasted malts. Not overly roasted but adding a nice sutle accent. Hops seem mudle with no particular taste coming through. You can taste though a brightness and freshness around the edges.
Smooth and easy drinking with a bitter finish. One should also note a nice alcohol warming throughout the session.
A good beer but potent. j

Pours rich deep brown with a skinny head. Aroma of big malt and big herbal hops. Palate is a nice balance of sweet and bitter. Quite a tasty brew........,..................................... kenwall17 (232) - new york, New York, USA - DEC 11, 2011
Dark caramel color with thick head. Unique malty hop taste, I can’t think of a comparable brew. Not as roasted as other Black IPAs. beeratarian (230) - cleveland, Ohio, USA - JAN 13, 2011
Pours a nice amber brown with a creamy, light,1/2 inch head. Smells of spicy hops and some alcohol esters. Taste is all hops up front but are quickly subdued by the roasty malt, Not a dark beer but definately has a nice balanced flavor. Goes along the lines of a non-spiced winter ale with some kick. Very drinkable. sodakotakid (230) - Belle Fourche, South Dakota, USA - MAY 23, 2013
pours a nice redish brown with a big tan head. This may be one of the worst beers I have ever had. The bitterness over whelms everything. This beer starts off sweet then goes immediately to bitterness. There are bitter hops, dark fruit flavors and bitter citrus flavor, YUCK!! VALIS (229) - Nashua, New Hampshire, USA - FEB 15, 2013
Very pretty dark red with lots of off-white bubbles. Dominant caramel on the nose with a little barbecue spice and plenty of malt. Nice balance between smooth and bitter. I thought I didn’t like Black IPAs but this changed my mind.
