3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had to rate this. I casually picked it up, thinking that it’d just be a nice, session harvest pale ale. Anything but...this baby needs a little time...
Spicy/herbal/pungent hop aroma. Very green (young) on the nose. Faint roast, but you know it’s there. Creamy entry. Bitter, hop assault. Faint, caramel/toasty background show through and balance the hops nicely.
A hint of Europe? Tasty, but not fully integrated by any means. It’s supposed to be about the hops and it still will be...when you drink it a year from now! A good, and potentially great, American "Strong" Ale. Cheers!

Pours a very dark brown, near black. Good deal of lacing.
Grapefruit lemon and grass, followed by roasted malts on the nose. Assertive floral hop flavor with citrus fruits, coffee and roasted malts. Smooth bitter finish. Nice black IPA

Bottle in Brussels. Nice dark body with tan head. Nose is malty, with hops and pines. Spicy flavours. Lots of big malts but also hoppy elements. Really nicely balanced. Interesting one. mstrcrwly (1000) - New York, USA - MAR 31, 2015

On draft. Holy wow. Big aroma of floral and citrus hops, followed by a dark chocolate bomb of a beer. Almost stout-likr in depth if flavor. More raisin and red wine flavor as it warms. An all-timer. slowrunner77 (12581) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 5, 2014
"not a hop bomb as expected. there are a ton of hops, sure, but the high dose of dark malt give it the look and feel of a barleywine or old ale...with the hops of a double ipa. this is a beer i could really get into. smooth, balanced, spicy hops in the bittersweet finish. nice hybrid here. via trade w/ kinger."
