Bottle. Off-white high creamy and lasting head. Clear dark brown body. Strawberry caramel aroma and flavor with low bitterness.

Bottled. A dark, dark brown coloured beer with a dissipating tan coloured head. The aroma has blackberries and plums and is nicely fruity but there’s a subtlety to the fruitiness. The taste again has lots of fruit but lacks body. Needs more oomph to be really good.

Pours a clear ruby color with a medium, bubbly, light brown head. Aroma of sugar plums and raisins. The flavor has a little something that really feels problematic, the fruits are there but they’re pushed aside by the uglyness of this beer. The body is light to medium with a dry mouthfeel and gentle carbonation.

Slightly soured note underscores malt sweetness in the vinous and fruity aroma. Hazy, dark, ruby-brown body is topped by a finger of fine bubbled, fizzy, tan head that diminishes slowly to cover with scant lacing. Plums, raisins and dates in the jammy flavour with some fusels and notes of alcohol. Very dry medium full body with moderate carbonation. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (BB Oct-08, Bièropholie, Aug-06) sampled with Oakes.

Bright mahogany colour. Interesting winey, fruity aroma with accents of wood and raisins. Fairly full body, though quite fizzy. Simplistic plummy malts, hints of toffee and maybe some brighter fruits.

(33cl bottle) Retired? Hmm... I believe this beer came from the Bieropholie Private Imports for the Summer of 2006. Pours a lasting, frothy almond-coloured head with a deep brown, sediment filled body. Nose is very white wine, tinny, prunes, lemon zest and coriander. The flavour is quite unique and delicious - chewy, fig, bourbon, tart wine and a cherry malt. Very good stuff. Glad I had the oppotunity to try this.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2007 Dark ruby body with an initially large off-white head that turns into a thin layer. Aroma of spices, black forest cake and pie crust. Very fruity beer with some black cherries and lots of grapes. Weird spicy mix that does do it to me. A bit sour. Some cherry pie toped with some chocolate. Despite the abundance of fruity dessert flavours the body felt really empty. A funky beer but not too often. It’s retired now. What else are you gonna do but retire when you’re always labelled old (vielle/oud).

(Rating #684)

Hazy brown hue, with a tan-colored head, with a yeasty nose, hint of candied orange peels fruitiness, touch of nutmeg spiciness, with a sweet chocolate toasted malt aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty fruity character, with some spicy coriander and curaçao notes, toasted malt, hint of fig, raisin fruitiness, leading towards a malty, fruity, faint alcoholic finish.

NoiZe (2323) - Zeist, NETHERLANDS - AUG 19, 2006
Dark colored brew. Nice sweet yeasty aroma, a bit caramel like. Malty, a bit fruity and bitter flavor. Overall a nice beer. Thnx to ceasar for bringing this one.
