(swing top bottle, with thanks to Quack-Duck) Deep brown, almost black colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Slightly sugary sweet and roasted malty aroma with distinctive notes of dark and milk-chocolate, accompanied by a herbal and ethereally touch. Balanced roasty bitter and sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a pleasantly calm carbonation. Roasty malty taste with notes of chocolate, liquorice and herbal accents; sweet and roasty bitter, quite balanced and lasting finish. A pleasure; like a bottom-fermented Sweet Stout. 16.III.11 fonefan (48818) - VestJylland, DENMARK - AUG 13, 2008

From tap at Vielanker Brauhaus. It’s very dark brown with a nice, creamy head. The aroma has notes of coffee and roasted malt - nice. The flavour has notes of coffee, roasted malt, a slightly dry citrussy bitterness, and the body is full and nice. It’s very porter like and doesn’t have the very pronounced sweetness that many German Schwartzbiers have. It’s one of the really good ones! TaxiDriver (1775) - Stadland, GERMANY - SEP 6, 2007
Bottle. Nearly black body, small off-white creamy head, mostly diminishing. Light smell of malt and cola, roasted coffee shines through. Medium bitter start, gets even more bitter at the end, lightly sour. Medium body, oily but watery texture, average carbonation, bitter and surprisingly long finish. London Gathering Nov 05: Clear brown with a beige head. Simple choc malts flavours, with a suprising tart edge. Drinkable, but I suspect this bottle was tainted.
