500 mL bottle at home, swapped with Welshwizard645, poured into a pint glass, in as close to a German stab into the glass of beer pouring style as I could manage. Not quite black and opaque, but very dark with an at first lively head - due to not being handled very well. Smells dark, roasted and rich, very good. Tastes nice, like a good English mild. Tastes of nuts, roast, a hint of coffee and generally pleasant. Like a good English mild it is flavoursome and in part 2D. However its a fine beer, and clearly not as wide reknown as it should be. Rather good. Koelschtrinker (21489) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - JAN 19, 2013
Dennoch sehr gut! 11/11/12/11/11/11

Dark brown colored with a red gleam and a thin off-white head. Roasted malt aroma with creamy notes, rather mild but nicely balanced and pleasant.
Malt and chocolate dominates the flavor, notes of fruit and grass. A bit thin in the body but well balanced. Very fruity for a schwarzbier.

Swingtop bottle. Medium high creamy and lasting off-white head. Very dark red brown body. Caramel cofffe roasted barley malt aroma with a touch of liquorice. Sugary sweet coffee roasted malt caramel flavor with little a bit of hops bitterness, low carbonation and a long bittersweet aftertaste. Well balanced, alcohol level seems just right. Delicious. yespr (47432) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - AUG 24, 2011
50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown and golden deep amber with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty and slight breadish. Roasted malty and breadish flavoured. Bitter and dark roasted malty finish. Mariusz (12072) - Baden-Baden, GERMANY - JUL 18, 2012
Pours a black color with a brown head. Roasty and malty aroma. Smooth and light, but still full flavor with plenty of malty roastiness. Nice. lusikka (7833) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 4, 2012
500 ml bottle. Thanks Timo A.olio (10543) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 4, 2012
Pours a dark brown, almost black colour with an off-white head. Aroma of toasted malts, rye bread and some spiciness. Flavour of roasted malts, nuts, some salty licorice and grassy hops. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and low carbonation. Finishes roasty, quite bitter and a bit salty. Good one.
50 cl bottle @ TimoA.
Pours deep dark red color with small head. Aroma of dark berries, mild caramel malts, some toffee, some vanilla notes and grass. Flavor of malts, caramel, fruity notes, some honey hints. Quite nice.
