Víking Christmas beer has been the best seller in Iceland for many years. This Marzen Vienna style beer was first introduced in 1990. It has golden amber colour and taste notes of malt, burnt sugar and caramel. The brewing takes longer time due to low heat secondary fermentation after main fermentation is finished. Due to this method the beer has better balance and body.

Pours clear copper colored with a big head. Very light malty aroma. Taste is light bitterness, mostly sweet with a hint of roasted caramel. Slightly bittery finish. Palate is dry, medium carbonation, watery. Light bodied. Overall an alright beer.

Blik van 500ml. Helder roodbruin. Crèmekleurige kraag. Smaak mout, kerst kruiden en caramel. Best smakelijk.

westler (165) - Stuttgart, GERMANY - DEC 7, 2014
Clear amber colour, slightly coloured foam. Malty, slightly roasty nose. Medium body, light bitterness. Medium carbonation. Drinkable, but nothing special.

bjakk (820) - Skagafjordur, ICELAND - NOV 16, 2014
Golden, clear with white foam, some lacing. Hint of metal in the aroma. Malt, toffee, mild bitterness in the aftertaste.. Nothing special

Reimer96 (1778) - Alberta, CANADA - OCT 19, 2014
Pours a clear amber with virtually no head. Aroma of cereal, toast, caramel and biscuit. Taste is Caramel, toast, biscuit and cereal with a funny harshness on the finish. A more flavorful lager bit something is off.

VT (2527) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 28, 2014
Bottle shared with other drunk guys at the end of some alcohol-fueled night. Pours a clear straw with a short lived white head. Aroma is dry, sulfuric. Flavor is caramel, mineral, fruits, toast. Finish is earth, mineral. Medium body, weak to average carbonation.

Bottle at Bistro Atlantic (inside Keflavík International Airport), 5% ABV
Light amber color, small head. Light malt aroma and flavor, ordinary bitterness, some caramel.
Not a Christmas beer (which is anyway positive), just a simple beer.

kacsagergo (27) - HUNGARY - DEC 16, 2013
Clear amber color. Brown sugar and a bit caramel aroma. Moderate sweet, moderate bitter flavor. Drinkable.

Martinus (4701) - Baarle-Nassau, NETHERLANDS - NOV 8, 2012
Light orange amber colour, white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, light toast, slight soy sauce. Quite sweet flavour, somewhat bitter hops. Malty finish, toast and hops.
Better than I expected actually.

mzaar (3642) - Varberg, SWEDEN - OCT 28, 2012

Clear golden color with small white head. A boring characterless canned beer without flavor of Christmas but can be drunk.
