Víking Strong lager has an alcohol content of 7%, making it the strongest beer in the Víking range. It has a pale golden colour with little bitterness and the slightly sweet savour of malt. Víking Sterkur is popular because of its pleasantly mild character which is retained despite its high alcohol content.

Very lively light yellow lager. The nose is pure maltiness, grassy cereals are predominant. Strong with hints of richness though it remains very light and sparkly. Much of the malt from the nose with the tiniest hint of hop dryness at the finish.

Bought a large can in Iceland and poured into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a light clear gold color with few bubbles and a small white head that was quickly gone and had little cling too. The beer had a straw and grainy hops aroma with maybe a touch of barley, not too strong or exciting. Its taste was fairly bitter and grainy, with a touch of sour mash characteristic too. It was a thin, lowly carbonated beer, mostly dry, and did not have a compelling mouthfeel. It did have a sour alcohol taste at the finish.

Can from kuphish, this rating in relation to the just-had Gylltur. Even paler than the last, but otherwise the same appearance. Nose is slightly heavier, slightly hoppier (nobles). Taste is picking up grass and not as grainy, still touched by alcohol, and here it’s a bit off-putting. Not getting into medicinal territory, but it’s still somewhat dirty.

Pours a pale lager-ish body with a partly creamy, partly foamy top which sticks around for a little while. An Icelandic malt liquor? Hm. Nose is very mild, with pale malts and hints of booze. Taste is dry, dusty hops, booze and pale malts; the maltiness hangs around a bit with some metallic hop-ish tones and hints of corn and grain in the aftertaste. Decidedly boozy notes; this is not a subtly masked beer at all. While I think the taste is more in line with the European strong lager ("exports") than American-style malt liquors, this is definitely designed to get you drunk rather than taste well.

Can from Reykjavik airport. Sweetish malt, apart form that there is hardly any aroma or flavour here. A hint of alcohol, maybe.

Canned at Petelax Beer Festival. Pale yellow, small head. Fruity alcohol aroma. Sweet and medium bodied. Fruity and mellow with some burning alcohol. No bitterness. Poorly executed malt liquor, but still better than their other beers - at least this one tastes like ethanol, which is better than garbage.
