330 ml bottle with screwed crown cap as “Vilniaus Tamsusis Žolelių Skonio” bought at Ameyokocho on Argyle Street, Mong Kok.
Clear deep amber red colour; Near zero head with residual soapy white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with notable slight carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of dark amber malt, with strong cardamom, cinnamon, aniseeds, caramel, light toffee, dark fruits, sugar and light grass; Mid to strong sweet taste of amber malt, with cherry, red fruits, caramel, floral, strong molasses, light herbs, lemon, light bitter grassy hops; Close to light body. Slightly Slick palate; Mouth feel is fairly good amber maltyness in a watery background. Cherry-like red fruits and caramel base with pretty strong molasses sweetness. Herbal taste is apparent but not distinguishing. Light floral and light lemon to round. So so… Hoppiness is light grass in nose. Floral, lemon, and light grass in taste; Bitterness is light for a lasting, low astringent sweet herbal finish; Fairly dry after taste. Sweet and slightly bitter to mouth.
Comments: This one has pronounced herbal aroma of cardimom and cinnamon, but taste-wise is not so spicy and underwhelming. Sweeter and with lighter body than the original Dunkel (Tamsusis), it feels more like a herbal cola. Once is enough.
Clear dark amber beer, small off-white head. Nose is spicy, cinnamon, some buttery notes, cola, herbs, caramel. Flavor is herbal, caramel notes, cola, spice. Herbal finish, more cinnamon and cola. Herb-cola. Not undrinkable, but a bit strange. tomer (3737) - Rishon Le Zion, ISRAEL - APR 18, 2015
Draught as "Tradycynis Ciemny Ziolami" at Sherlock Holmes pub in Bialystok, smallish head, clear deep red color, spicey cake aroma with ginger, cinamon, nutmeg and a hint of anise, cakey malty aroma with some cinamon and nutmeg and some cola, quite sweet but with a light to medium bitterness. Nice and easy and quite drinkable in small portions. halapablo (161) - Warszawa, POLAND - NOV 7, 2014
Fajna odmiana! ectuohy27 (1246) - ESTONIA - SEP 14, 2014
I generally like the style; unfortunately this example is just OK--not much subtlety, it practically hits you over the head with caramel malt. Not enough carbonation or even, God forbid, hops to balance what is basically flat oversweet cola.
