From our brewery we just tapped a new beer called Rock Island Steam. This is a beer brewed in the traditional steam style made famous in San Francisco.

On tap at the brewpub in Little Rock, AR. Pours a cloudy, copper-orange colored body with a finger-width, frothy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is lighter with some doughy, lightly sweetened pale malts and a light hop spice. Touches of orange in there. Flavor is better. Thin, watery feeling, somewhat doughy, lightly sweetened pale malts up front before a decent earthy and herbal hop spice comes in that gives off a slight orange resin. Finishes dry and moderately bitter with a firm hopping in comparison to the thin malts. Lengthy aftertaste following a thin body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, this wasn’t bad, but it was on the thinner side. Decent hopping and bitterness actually made this somewhat interesting, but there wasn’t a lot going on. No one in the entire restaurant knew the ABV%, but I’d guess it was around 4.5%. Eh...
