Draft at Vintage, served in a tall, thin glass. Deep brown amber body, steady beige head. Sweet and sugary caramel molasses action. Quite Eastern European in feel, not super impressive. The dark fruity raisin flavor comes off a little strong for me. Doughy brown chocolate notes. Sugary, comes off underattenuated. Drinkable, but not one I’d order again. akoeninger (766) - Wisconsin, USA - OCT 24, 2012
On tap @ Vintage. Pour is red-brown hues. Aroma is flowery and malty. Taste is sweet, with fruit and caramel notes. Malt really hits on the back end, which is to be expected for a dark bock like this. Nice, crisp finish. An enjoyable beer. dionysus (1486) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 21, 2012
On tap @ Vintage. Pour is mahogany with no noticeable head when I received it. Aroma is sweet with notes of toffee, nuts, light coffee, and a hint of florals. Flavor shows the same with an extremely light chocolate
undertone. Overall body is moderate and the brew is fairly balanced for being as malt forward as it is. Brigadier (3710) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - NOV 30, 2011

There are no shortage of great bocks around the Madison area between New Glarus, Capitol, and others. This one is solid but by comparison not on the same level. Even so for a safe session beer to drink during Badger football games you could do worse. By regularly making beers like this to style Vintage makes themselves more of a must stop.
Aroma / Appearance - The reddish brown base glows. There are traces of carbonation as it bubbles like a warm soda. Red licorice and malts hit the nose hard. Refusing to go lightly it lingers for a few minutes.
Flavor / Palate - Malt, caramel, and a smooth finish are a good mix. The shoe polish notes are distracting but even so the taste is in the ballpark. I’d drink this again if someone had a growler or it was the best option at the time.
At the brewery before the penn state Wisconsin game. Go Penn State. Pours a see through brownish red with a thin light brown head that leaves a ring. Smell is very sweet malts. The taste is very sweet no bitterness at all in this one. I passed this on immediately to my wife who refused to give it back and she drank the who thing. So I guess for her it was a success and a happy wife is a happy life!!!!!

On tap at Vintage - Pours cola color with a very thin head. Dark bread malt on the nose, with molasses and a minimal hop presence. Taste is big bold malt, dark chocolate, light coffee. Pretty big and syrupy. Love the taste, but you have to be ready for a malt bomb with this one. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 18, 2011
On tap at Vintage Brewpub. Clear ruby red with next to no head. Aroma of toffee, dark malt and some mild nuttiness. One trick malt pony and it does a good job but more than 4 oz might be a task. Toffee, roasted brown sugar, caramel, light chocolate, mild nuts all wrapped up in a sticky malt bomb. arkurzynski (2446) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 31, 2010
On tap. Dark brown red. Nose is fairly malty with a hint of roasted malt. Brief initial toasted malt, dark fruit, followed by smooth roasted malt that lingers. Slightly dry finish. Different, but good take on the style. MrPickles (438) - Waunakee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 25, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Good aroma of raisin and other dark fruit. Disappointed by the up front flavor. Seems almost watery on the front but has a nice finish. Flavorful, but all on the backside and not much on the front. Not much complexity here. Skyview (6093) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - DEC 23, 2010
On draught at the Vintage brewpub in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear dark copper brown colored brew with a creamy beige head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring and spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted caramel and chocolate malts, floral hops, a hint of roasted nuts and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, quite smooth with both roasted caramel and English malts, floral hops a touch of chocolate and toffee. Finish is semi-sweet, aftertaste of chocolate, caramel, toffee and floral hops. A very short mild bitterness with a touch of doppelbock character.
