Sampled this one on draught at the brewpub in Leesburg, VA. Pours to a slightly hazy, copper color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a soft to moderate about of carbonation. The nose on this one is very nice, with some good herbal and flowery hop aromas, paired with some good toffee, and sweet malt. The palte is firm, with good sweet malt and toffee flavor, paired with a nice under tone of estery fruit. This beer finishes with more good toffee and carmel malt flavor, with more fruity esters, then ends with a mild herbal hop bite that takes the malty/fruity edge off this beer. A nice pint of ale, and a good session brew. Lots of flavor, yet very drinkable, and very food friendly. This one was a fantastic match with the Vintage burger, cooked medium rare, with blue cheese, bacon, and some hand cut fries. Drake (14059) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 4, 2011
Growler from the brewpub. Pours a hazy amber with a thin fizzy white head. Below average head retention. Aroma of caramel, bready notes and faint floral hops. The taste is toasted malts, faint caramel, an almost chocolate note and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Very dry. Lively carbonation. Nice. Lost and then re-found notes from Jan/Feb of 2007. Copper, clear with a nice fine particled draft head. The aroma is lightly dusty sweet caramel. The flavor is just what you would expect with an aroma like this. Ok stuff. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAY 9, 2009
On tap Sep. 2008: Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin ring of white head. Aroma of sweet toasty caramely malts and crisp English hops. Body starts with good fullness and sweet roasty caramel notes with a clean resiny hop balance before a crisp bittersweet finish. A nice ESB.

Sampled at Vintage 50. Classic clear amber with a frothy lasting head. Slight toastiness, light grassy earthy Brit hops in the nose. Starts off with toasty caramel maltiness, slight touch of wood and somewhat of an ample level of hop bitterness for the style. Well-attenuated, light residual sweetness. Medium body, smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Solid stuff. hopscotch (11181) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - FEB 1, 2007
Draft... Murky caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Herbal, earthy nose. The flavor releases subtle notes of grain with light sweetness and a hint of pungency. Medium-bodied with tingly carbonation. Finishes crisp and fairly clean. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 4, 2007
5oz glass at the brewery. Clear rusty colored body with a white head. Corse, bready, toasty scent, but surprisingly it doesn’t taste like bread at all... it’s corase for sure, grainy and sharp, but it reminds me more of a brown ale with some moderately corase grains and some slightly aggressive hops. A strange beer, I’m afraid I don’t get the ESB in this one. maniac (3800) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 10, 2009
