Lightly hazy standard ESB. A bit of the more bitter side but that is exactly what I would expect. Pleasant and enjoyable.
Growler from the brewpub. Pours a hazy amber with a thin fizzy white head. Below average head retention. Aroma of caramel, bready notes and faint floral hops. The taste is toasted malts, faint caramel, an almost chocolate note and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. Very dry. Lively carbonation. Nice. Cask. Pours clear copper with a large, creamy and frothy beige head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie, caramel, toasted), average hops (earthy, grassy), and light esters (fruity) with notes of butterscotch. On tap, at brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy amber body. Aroma is light toasty malt with a light hopping and a touch of butter. The flavor is dry and toasty with light bitterness and some biscuity malt. Earthy floral hop flavor with light caramel maltyness. Just a hint of floral fruitiness. Medium body. Finish is dry with light residual bitterness. On tap Sep. 2008: Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin ring of white head. Aroma of sweet toasty caramely malts and crisp English hops. Body starts with good fullness and sweet roasty caramel notes with a clean resiny hop balance before a crisp bittersweet finish. A nice ESB.

Growler courtesy of MaltDawg from the brewpub on 04/10/2009. Somewhat hazy orange body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet bready and grainy aroma with a bit of caramel. Sweet grainy flavor with some bready notes and a bit of earthy hops. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.

Hand pulled draft. My immediate impression is a gold Guinness from the looks of it. Pours a nice gold-orange color with a small, creamy white head. The nose is faint with bits of malt, grain, and a bit of soap. Virtually no carbonation and a slightly dry mouthfeel. The palate is a little on the weak side with notes of toated malt, a touch of caramel, a little earth, and the soap makes an appearance. The beer finishes fairly clean with a lingering bitterness the whole time. Beautiful lacing the whole way down. Not bad, but not the brewer’s best work. Sampled at Vintage 50. Classic clear amber with a frothy lasting head. Slight toastiness, light grassy earthy Brit hops in the nose. Starts off with toasty caramel maltiness, slight touch of wood and somewhat of an ample level of hop bitterness for the style. Well-attenuated, light residual sweetness. Medium body, smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Solid stuff.
