COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rauchbier is an old style of smoked German lager. The malts are smoked over a wood fire to impart the flavor. The beer is mildly smoky, perfect to pair with sausages, cheese, or any grilles item. This is a true German-style beer with Vienna and Rauchmalt and Hallertau hops. Prost!

Served on draftat the 1st Annueal Virginia Craft Brewers Fest, Devils Backbone, 8/25/12. Pours a clear amber color with a creamy brown head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel, smoke and earthy notes. The taste is caramel, smoke and faint astringency. Medium bodied, clean and refreshing. Nice beer.

Serving: draft at the brewpub. It pours a hazy amber color with a creamy light tan head. The nose is lightly smokey with a touch of grain. The flavor has light smoke, medium grain, and medium bitterness. Medium body with average carbonation and a longer finish. Very light use of smoke. Tasty.
