Draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber color with a thin white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of brown sugar, herbal hops and a salty note. The taste is brown sugar, herbal notes and a faint smokiness. Fairly dry. Medium bodied. This is the kinda beer where I don’t really like the components, but it all works together beautifully. Serving: Draft at the brewpub. It pours a ruddy black with a small tan head. The nose is heavily spiced with notes of clove, cinnamon, some caramel, and a touch of roast. The flavor has notes of blackstrap molasses, heavy clove, varnish, spiced cake, and an earthy bitterness. A bit thin in the tongue. Just okay.
