2.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
Yeah.....tastes like it sounds...a box of cardboard. Chocolate is easy to pick up with the nose but not the tongue...looks good but lingers in a really dull flavorless way. Metallic aftertaste. Initially you feel okay about it...look...smell. Even the first taste is good....but its all downhill fom there...yikes.

This beer does not quite live up to its billing. Even so it provides a substantive experience from start to finish that merits at least a small pour. I probably would not order a full pint with so many other choices yet if it were the best offering I’d have no problems ordering one.
Aroma / Appearance - A fluid base looks like someone left a couple of Hershey’s kisses on a dashboard until they transformed into a syrupy mess. Velvet, chocolate, and truffles lend a decadent dessert texture.
Flavor / Palate - Chocolate truffles slowly melted over almonds gives this more depth than I expected. Coffee grounds perk up the palate heading into the rich finish. The 7% ABV does not sneak past the senses - this one will make its presence known the entire time. If more breweries would release dunkler bocks like this I’d definitely order as many as I could.
Tap at Vintage. Served in a massive snifter. Deep opaque brown-black. Thin beige head. Big cocoa nibs completely dominate. Super sweet, think Southern Tier dessert beers without the depth. No subtlety, ends up having a real Nestle Quik flavor. Not really that good or enjoyable. Cocoa powder should be avoided in beer. MrPickles (438) - Waunakee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 11, 2013

Tap at Vintage, pours black with a lingering light brown head and lacing, nice, aroma is pretty sweet with a little bit of chocolate in it, flavor has a good amount of chocolate on the front end with a sweet finish, really not bad at all, fun stuff. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 5, 2013
On tap at Vintage Brewpub, 7.3% ABV. Dark brown with ruby lowlights and a thin brown crown. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa and sweet malt. Taste is rather sweet with plenty of chocolate and cocoa powder and toffee and a bit of toasted malt. Not bad but a tad too sweet. madvike (3271) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 14, 2013
Growler from the brewpub - Pours deep brownish-black with a big foamy tan head. Nose is sweet and chocolatey, dark and bitter with some milky, sugary notes. Big lightly roasted malt in the background, giving the chocolate a good base to mingle with. Taste is more in-your-face chocolate, but it never gets too sweet or cloying. A bit milky with cocoa and milk chocolate. Lightly roasted dark malt. Hints of espresso and some hazelnut on the chocolatey finish. Medium-thick body with just enough carbonation. Decadent stuff.
